85 years ago, the 6th Australian Division captured the Italian-controlled port city of Tobruk, Libya, which later became a garrison for Australian and British forces.

In this striking image taken on 22 January 1941, members of the 2/11th Infantry Battalion, having penetrated Tobruk’s outer defences, assemble on the escarpment on the south side of the harbour.
