I've long loved the work of the Abolitionist Sanctuary and Solitary Gardens that Freedom to Grow has done and this does seem like a wonderful way to expand on that. Would love to visit NOLA for a thing like that.

Itβs day 98 of the ICE occupation of MN.
For almost 100 days, weβve been doing everything we can to protect our immigrant neighbors. This is the next step to keeping our neighbors safe.
Call on Mayor Frey to sign the 60 day pre-eviction notice.

The policy being debated, which I think the mayor is likely to veto, is temporarily adding an extra 30 days notice (60 total) on evictions thru the summer, after which it will revert to existing 30. Seems like an especially small gesture considering the magnitude of what people have been through.

The U.S. Death Machine killed someone I don't know.
Rage, confusion, softness, grief. Again and again.
βIβm learning many different ways to build grief into my politics so that I donβt become slowly numbed or consistently overwhelmed.β @dionnesims.bsky.social

The elected officials who rep a majority of the city have to beg Jacob Frey to not veto an extension in eviction notices. @Jacob_Frey who rode the wave of our collective suffering on his national PR tour, the most vulnerable in our city have to beg Jacob Frey to not impede help.

I know people are very sensitive about the use of the word βgenocideβ but the attempts to medically eliminate trans children is very clearly meets the standard because they are trying to eliminate a population and also they know some of those kids are going to kill themselves

A couple summers ago I was on a walk in Powderhorn with my kid at dusk, and a big toad (frog?) jumped right across the sidewalk in front of us, and kept on going to whatever amphibian park activities it was up to. I'd like to see more city frogs, turtles, lizards, whatever.

itβs never felt more stark to me, the way direct action, community defense, and a whole host of forms of refusal are being blunted by those see (and/or who want others to see) such actions as βdisagreement with a policyβ or βseeking policy changeβ

Call Mayor Frey today at 612-673-2100 and tell him to sign Pause Evictions, Save Lives.
We fought to keep our immigrant neighbors hereβnow we need to keep them in their homes. No family should be punished for hiding from ICE by now being evicted.

That things were back to that era really became clear to me in an escalated way seeing the promos for the Wicked movies. I was confused about whether things had actually gotten better and then worse or not but either way they seem so bad again.

A great episode of course. I havenβt gotten to this book yet, but am looking forward to it. I think so many of the political realities we face are shaped by how people come to know things, on the level of action that this conversation is about.
