Sounds interesting. I'm doing Edexcel's Wars of the Roses course; the Act of Supremacy won't be relevant to them but some source contextualisation work might be. Are the videos accessible via the website? #Historyteacher

It’s not just video games, apparently. Romance readers can’t deal with third person perspective anymore:

Brilliant thing about history is there's always something to learn even in the most familiar of lessons. I've just clicked why whether Becket deliberately remaining in the Cathedral is important - seeing martyrdom was considered vain.

A screen grab from the New Scientist: Human brain cells on a chip learned to play Doom in a week. Neutron-powered computer chips can now be easily programmed to play a first-person game, bringing biological computers a step closer to useful applications.

A pile of the books.

A pile of the books.

Ten routes round Edinburgh. I tried to write the book I would like if I were visiting. Amazon paperback or Kindle, and Kindle Unlimited.

Trump administration removes Rainbow Flag from Stonewall National Monument The Trump administration removed a large Rainbow Flag from a flagpole at the Stonewall National Monument, the National Park Service confirmed to Gay City News

β€œThis is a deliberate act of erasure . . . The Pride Flag is history, resistance, and Pride born at Stonewall itself. Taking it down does not diminish our community. It exposes an administration afraid of visibility and truth."

Cover of a book; The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski. A muscular hero with long, blonde hair holds a sword in his hand and stares away from us in profile. Hen's wearing a heavy woollen cloak and some sort of leather armour.

I *think* I have read this before. Fun, and didn't take itself too seriously. Rather like the TV show, it is a bit of a romp through a fantasy version of medieval Eastern Europe with monster tropes and a hero's journey. construction in places had a circular narrative. #Booksof2026 No1. #Witcher

Child 1 had seen the recent JJ Abrams movies and enjoyed them. We watched Strange New Worlds together and he thought it was great. We went and watched Discovery season 2 if only for Anson Mount; I've shown him bits of Trek history for contrast.
In sum; SNW is a modern show and great fun

Specialist support services have been gutted for years. Local councils don't have the funds to put the support in place. The result is that teachers at the sharp end have to deal with it all.

Agreed. It is... disappointing. Mrs J works in a primary where the lack of funding, funding cuts, and lack of support for some challenging situations is not a long term plan for success

And another thing. It is REALLY tedious to open a news page every day and see photograph after photograph of the same worst possible humans gurning back at me. It's like a wanker's yearbook.

Interesting thread about poor behaviour in schools and political posturing which doesn't deal with many of the challenging root causes.
