Small businesses were once the driving force behind America’s prosperity. But as multinational corporations have gone unchecked and taken control of entire industries, common people have been left behind. We must reverse course.
I also know that what was possible for me when I started my business almost 20 years ago is quickly becoming unrealistic for too many people in Connecticut and across the nation.

Our state and country were once hubs for innovation and manufacturing, but since then it has frankly become cheaper to make products overseas as corporate jobs dominate at home. To reverse this trend, Connecticut must first cut the red tape to allow more small businesses to start-up and thrive.
Continuing a trend of a declining economy in Connecticut, Stanley Black & Decker has announced it will close its New Britain manufacturing plant. While this may be just one more incident, it represents the broader collapse of the manufacturing industry in Connecticut and across America.
