What you see in the picture is and underlayment of elemental sulfur (reduce alkalinity), peat moss and goat poop. Tomorrow I'll put some good dirt back and and homemade potting soil around he trees.

The next section of ground, down by the gate has been prepped for planting more bamboo and the 3 guavas.
I couldn't believe how much caliche I had to take out. I never did find the other side of it. I just broke it up as much as I could.
The terracotta pots came in and have now been placed into the Cacao pots.
We have a mango!!!!
I decided to buy 5 more cacao trees, I'm not sure what happened to the others, but they aren't doing well. Funny though the trunk/stem are still flexible and I would assume they would have become brittle if they were dead.
But this is it π€£π€£π΄π΄
The bananas are doing pretty good. They say the fruit takes 3-4 months to finish to ripening.
Since I posted the first growth I'll be able to figure out how long it takes. At least for this one ππ΄π΄
Has this happened to you?
Heaters in and working great, their app really sucks though π€£π€£, Pool is at 87Β°.
-We tried one of the solar blankets, but after 6 months it disintegrated and left blue dots everywhere. So to slow evaporation we are going to try just a large blue tarp. Easy to take off and slide back on.
The heater is here πΊπΊ, plumbing this afternoon and electrical hookup to follow π
Mango senior looks like she is going to produce fruit this year, yippiee
And another one gets a ride to the dump π€£π€£π€£
This guy showed up -3 days ago and todays was the first real opportunity I had. There are 2 more out in the neighborhood, that I would for them to visit π€£π€£
Well... I still have issues seeing if the bucket is level, so I end up gouging dirt or the wood under the pile. I need a backstop to make it easier to pick up the mulch.
So I am looking for ideas?????
I want to pick your brains, so yes I am asking for interaction π€£π€£ (1/2)
At the North end of the 3 compost bins I had planned on using it as the mulch storage location. I had some spare wood to put on the ground, thinking that the bucket would slide over the wood and not dig up the ground.
We had a visitor yesterday, I will share the pool with them π€£
Well the fruit pod is showing π
Everyone, say hello to Steffani, she is our new hired hand π€£ When Rick was down last year it was amazing what another pair of hand could help me accomplish. So it took a while but Steffani is going to help out part time.
Well, looks like our mulch pile is growing some mushrooms, maybe Ink cap mushrooms (Coprinopsis atramentaria)
I don't know, I like my tropical sunset picture π
This weekend is the Agfair. Like the old county fair. Lots of food booths, vendors, local agencies and rides for the youngsters. And of course the plantsπ
So we have 5 new residents here at the homestead.
2 Strawberry Guava trees, 1 pineapple guava, 2 vanilla bean plants and a tuber called Jicama
I think I will rearrange my tasks again π and clean out the next section for the bamboo. After I finish chipping.
They will continue the line I've started with the original 3.
Tomorrow is the Agricultural Fair, so there may be more to come π
Thanks to Ferdie, I have 3 new bamboo plantings.
They go into pots with some root growing hormone. Usually I'd leave them for 3 months or so, but they were such great shape
The Cocoplums are growing fruit, from flower to ripe fruit is supposed to be 3 months, so we shall see
I have a new addition to my water buffaloes, a meter to tell me how full my tanks are.
Ok, the latest tool to help me mange the homestead has arrived.
It is a quick hitch attachment. I just about back up to the implement and pick it up. It will make attaching the chipper and tiller much easier
I have another huge pile to chip
Well the new area is almost cleaned out
The next phase for the pool, the electrician came by. Early even π€£π€£
The heater is supposed to be released by next Friday so figure 3 more weeks for the heater.
Since we got over 2" (5 cm) of rain the last couple of days the dirt has been to wet to work so I decided to go back to the one manjack tree up front that hadn't been worked, and trim it down. This will also open up the slope. Still not sure what to do with all the extra land it opens
The custard apple (related to sugar apple) tree lost all of their leaves and then last week it budded out and we have new leaves
Today's rain should give a good drink
Well that cold front that hit you Northerners has made it's way down here. The good news is (yes I'm obsessed with water π€£) 2 inches of rain is 2K into the cistern and all my water buffaloes are full and my bananas are happy.
The bad news is it is damp, a bit windy and cold π₯Άπ₯Ά
I am not a doctor π but live on an island surrounded by coral π
