A graphic in pink, blue, and green that illustrates how recent many Black History events are to the current day -- ranging from 1619 to 2024.
I'm sure we've all seen the graphic that lays out the United States ' relationship with slavery. It's good, but I never thought it was quite impactful enough. So I made my own.
I've used a few key events, including my birth, to highlight how recent these events are in history.
1 square = 1 year.
So when thousands of women (and children) were being duplicated--including in non-consensual AI porn--it was no big deal. But it took "only a 15-sec clip" of these two famous white men to draw outrage and fear. Gotcha. Cool cool.
βReaders should be able to assume that every word between quotation marks is what the speaker or writer saidβ¦ The writer should, of course, omit extraneous syllables like βumβ and may judiciously delete false starts.β

This is at the same time interesting and useful and also immediately lost me because one of their three health behaviors is BMI. Body size is not a behavior by any good operational definition.

Multicolored background with speech bubble that reads βVoting in a sense feels like a privilege. And thatβs pretty weird because people are like, βItβs your duty to vote.β But itβs like, a lot of times things donβt change even if you do vote.β Text below reads βJohn, a 27-year-old Black UPS workerβ
Multicolored background with speech bubble that reads βPoliticians have a very predictable script at this point, and Iβm kind of done hearing it.β Text below reads βSylvia, an unemployed 33-year-old White womanβ
Last week, I published a report - the "Political Disconnect" -based on interviews with 144 low-income & working-class people, across racial groups, who don't usually vote. They are the experts on why, and today I want to share their words.

As @angus.bsky.social points out, ICE has arrested one in one-thousand US residents. This is also almost exactly the number of US deaths from COVID in 2020.

As if that wasnβt obviously coming. Sad to see the day arrive and still get goosebumps at the fact that Iβm watching the greatest education system since the first century destroyed by idiots
Hey Yale, time for your post-tenure review committee to step in and fire this guy. We donβt actually have to accept that professors can treat students this way and no part of academic freedom demands it.

It is EXHAUSTING not only being made responsible for coming up with new kinds of assignments for our students; it's also tedious reading op-eds that suggest the core problem is a crisis in teaching. But, as Chris and I lay out here, this isn't a crisis in teaching; it's an attack on learning.
Siccing dogs on people is a slave tracker thing, a Bull Connor thing, a police brutality thing, a jackboot thug thing, an evil abuse of both dog and man which only a fully corrupted spirit could enact.
Churches, mosques, & other religious spaces are exempt from ADA requirements, even though many are polling places and community hubs. That means higher barriers to voting & belonging.

For my newsletter, I wrote about that college essay scandal that's gone viral and what everyone is seeming to miss:
It's about ATTACKING TRANS PEOPLE!!!
www.burnsnotice.com/that-viral-e...
iβm genuinely so convinced all of this has been a planned operation by the student and her mother (who is commenting on this publicly, and associated closely with the republican party), and big far right propaganda account going all in on it. this is designed to oust trans people from public life
I need everybody to read this and understand whatβs going on. These are spouses of US citizens in the country legally. They have entry clearance and green cards, theyβve passed background checks and have no criminal records. ICE is taking them anyway.
