I’ve also read all the stories from the principals about how the decision to kill Jean off came about and to this day I have no idea how Claremont and Byrne never once seemed to think “hey we can’t let Jean kill billions!” when they plotted this out. Best call Shooter ever made was on that.

I love that the facsimile retains the most unfortunately timed banner ad in comics history; at this point that’s just as much a part of the issue as the actual story. No one really knew what this issue was going to do, it was business as usual for that month.

I regrettably went through a sneering obnoxious Richard Dawkins atheist phase, and honestly being a prick against religion is tiresome. The problem with religion isn’t the concept of faith and belief, it’s people using it to wield as power against others. Don’t need a god to do that.

I was a very precocious reader and read anything I could get my hands on, including Greek and Norse myths. By the time I reached the Bible at around 10 years old, I realized that Genesis was just another creation myth.
