I've tried variations of 2.5% salt by weight and been happy with it.
How can you tell if someone has visited Barcelona recently? Donβt worry, they will write a newsletter article about it.
The sense of enclosure from the street level buildings is great. Youβre rarely exposed to big open spaces when walking (the bad versions I mean). Between retail & planters, trees, bike lanes, and parked cars - youβve got a nice protected space to walk. benjmatheson.substack.com/p/the-recipe...
Planters are absolutely everywhere. They shield what would are certainly busy roads to the point that the microscopic sidewalk cafes can exist. I think planters should be deployed much more broadly in the U.S.=> cheap, modular, and I think pretty effective. benjmatheson.substack.com/p/the-recipe...
Excellent tree cover serves a million purposes - lowers the temp, makes for a super enjoyable place to walk (iβm in a tree phase now btw), keeps traffic speeds in check. benjmatheson.substack.com/p/the-recipe...
I have new newsletter out this week: The recipe for Barcelonaβs supremely good streets. benjmatheson.substack.com/p/the-recipe...
if you consider this wonky, please tune in next for some insane Alaska PFD financial modeling coming soon
the tunnel should send this out for its christmas card
I spent a very long time on the 'eklutna lake' label trying to make it less janky (did not succeed)
what it looks like when I don't eat a full breakfast, pre-lunch, and main lunch.
my accomplishment of the weekend was I sent an order to the printer with something like 15 square feet of maps for my walls. including this eklutna area one.

1957 Kiddieland, a miniature amusement park in Anchorage on Old Seward south of Dowling. It opened in 1954, closed circa 1958, and was most famous for its little Alaska Railroad train. Another Kiddieland opened on Fireweed in 1965. Via Anchorage Museum #alaskahistory #alaska
