I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.
ppl who still commission their favourite artists even in this era where everyone is broke and genAI is being pushed on us at every opportunityβyou are appreciated more than words can express!!!

First commission of the season! Thanks so much to @fractaldiane.bsky.social for letting me draw your fluffy demon familiar!
A badass artpiece of Nonshedo from Ghost Junk Sickness next to commission informational text which reads: Yoko's Comm Sheet Avatar: 20USD, buy 4, get 1 free (great for item icons or ttrpg party portraits) Sketch: 30USD, add a character + 20USD Portrait: 50USD, add a character + 30USD Illustration: 200USD, add a character + 80USD, add background + 100USD Contact: YWeaverDesign@gmail.com (or via DMs) Discounts for: Repeat Clients, TTRPGs, and if you give me visual reference of the exact pose you want. The whole image is very cool with sick purple, green, and pink vibes
Some further examples of commission types, in this case, Avatars and Sketches. We see an avatar of a cute girl, and places below her is a backgroundless floating blood orange with lil drips to make it both juicy and foreboding. On the sketches side are two sketches, one a bust of a guy lit by rimlight and the other is a fullbody depiction of a woman in a fancy dress with long curly locks and horns. Instead of lighting, this woman has a multicolor fill on her dress and transparent veils, providing contrast and shape to the overall composition of the piece.
More examples! What won't I draw!? First up is a long-eared disgruntled looking man, next to him is Yami from the comic Black Sunshine, who is wielding a knife. The picture to the right of Yami is a bust of a character named Cyrus, artfully cut off at the shoulders by ice and snow set atop a base for a figure, suggesting the illusion that he is a resin figure of some kind, but how preposterous! This is a drawing! What do you mean I can give this artist money and they'll draw my character as if they were a figure!? The next two pictures are a black and white picture of a four-armed cat girl (sorry, I don't remember her name!) and a random pic of a very pretty woman that I doodled one day. It's been like 20 years but I still really like this pic of her.
EVEN MORE EXAMPLES!? When will they end!? Now. They end after this because you can't upload more than four images on Bluesky. Sorry if I got your hopes up. First image is an artfight piece of the characters Catis and Nightshadow, owned by Rae who creates the comics Overlord of Ravenfell and On Empyrian High! Under that is a character sheet of an old DnD character of mine, her look is inspired by unicorns and bunnies. Next to that pic is another artfight piece of Eliana from the webcomic Princeling! And last but not least is a piece entitled Asphodel, depicting a skeleton girl wearing some kind of horned animal skull, dripping golden light from it's eye, that is also glowing from within her ribcage. It was created for the Death and Decay art zine!
After three years, commissions are OPEN!
Even if you can't afford to buy a comm, it really helps if you repost and let others in your social circles know. I also plan on twitch streaming again, so if you buy a comm, you can probably catch me stream/recording it! (unless asked not to, of course)
Working on a commission and then later working on finishing up colors on comic pages! www.twitch.tv/yokoweaver
(I also do timelapses of all the art I do, so a nice lil freebie with each comm I do)

As for how it works, their shifting is controlled via a device they keep on their person, it was made many years ago by Engineer.
Yes, Face, who is the CEO of Morningstar has the ability to change their appearance and with it, gender expression. Theyβll hopefully have many looks throughout the story, but these are sort of the basics.
Link and Malon from Ocarina of Time, middle aged.
Talon from Ocarina of Time but much older. He got a cucco on his head.
It's been like 28-29 years since Ocarina if Time came out, so here's Link, Malon and Talon 28-29 years later:
A lineup of the characters from my soon to be comic, Morningstar. Left to right are the main protagonists: Vard, Reina, Eriise, Shem. Some side characters: Lucas, Ade, Katrin, Zarron. And The Engineer, known as one of the Founders of Morningstar.
A lineup of the characters of Morningstar. From left to right, The Collector (a Founder of Morningstar), Abioye (The Collector's daughter). The Librarian, President, Manager, and Face (all Founders of Morningstar). And on the end two side characters, Karil and Foreman Jin.
Finished the character lineup for my comic (coming soon to a website near you)! AMA about the characters and I'll answer :P
Using references in your art is so sexy, ultimate sexy even
I've been getting back into comics while I wait for more info from my concept job, and I thought I'd make a post about something very important to me, which is COMIC PANEL VARIATION and HOW TO THINK ABOUT IT.

Donβt forget to properly maintain your cat gardens with proper rakes and tools.
Just putting this here so I donβt forget laterβ¦
The DotL fan sever has been speaking using the language of the children of Tama, using memes as our metaphors and I canβt describe how happy it makes me to 1) finally understand the Star Trek episode on a functional level and 2) have a conversation that is silly for the sake of being silly.
thanks! It's one of my "inking" brushes :3

This makes me as mad as the "never shade with black and only use these colors to shade these specific colors" art "advice" that still circles around Tumblr. Literally fuming. Stop trying to police how people draw. Let a person explore, let a person decide what is or isn't good for their process.
That sounds absolutely mental to me that people would say having feathery lines means a lack of confidence. Fuck all the way off with that shit. If your progress can be understood and your intent conveyed, who cares *how* the person draws it?
sorry >.< I'll definitely be streaming more often, tho. But every Tuesday at noon is DotL page colors day (day late because wasn't doing too hot yesterday)
We streamin'!
Today we're making up for the missed art stream yesterday and coloring another DotL page!

It's like saying, "oh, I'm not going to use paint for this piece, I'm going to do it in charcoal. It's easier." Like bro... using charcoal is not "easier" than painting. More accessible, yes, but not easier. Both can be used to make amazing things, they're just different mediums.
