Important note,don't do it without the overnight soak.

You'll just end up making chicken flavored rice.

I found that out the hard way.

After it's cooked,congrats. You made congee. Season it with some soy sauce or enjoy it with your family.

First,soak your rice in a tub of water overnight. The next day (or night),drain the rice and put it in your cooker (be it a dedicated cooker,or a pot)

Pour your choice broth and protein,maybe some greens and salt in.

Cook the rice as you would normally.

If you want to make your own congee,you'll need a way to cook rice,some broth,rice (naturally),a vessel to hold the rice in overnight (preferably a hillshire ham tub) and water to soak the rice in.

So what's congee? In the most basal and simple form,it's rice porridge made with broth and maybe protein.

You can do so much with it though.

My favorite form of congee is chicken broth congee. I haven't had it in ages.
