"The world is closer than thought to a 'point of no return' after which..global heating cannot be stopped, scientists have said... The climate would..be very different to the benign conditions of the past 11,000 years, during which ..human civilisation developed."

Unpopular parental opinion but I encouraged my oldest to major in French and Psych and my youngest in an English Language & Lit degree with a History minor. I have no idea if it will bring in 6 figures but to me, that was besides the point. Losing the ability to think was top of mind in my guidance.
I'd like to give this more than 1 like.

Josh kinda hits on the press for not showing Iran as just another in a string of self-induced crises and not something novel.
Every now and then, it's worth reminding yourself that every single crisis of Trump 2.0 -- the economic downturn, the chaos in our cities, the rising health crisis, the foreign wars -- has been a direct result of their own actions.
If they'd done nothing at all, they'd be coasting comfortably.
"If they'd done nothing at all, they'd be coasting comfortably."
That's true of Trump's original inheritance, the money from his parents. If he'd just put it in the stock market he'd have made more money than he did on his own ideas.
"In the United States, sales of electric vehicles have risen considerably over the years, but adoption lags behind the rest of the world."

Unfortunately, in vast parts of the country, it's still super dicey to find vehicle chargers and when you do, is a gamble on whether or not they are in good repair. We decided on a hybrid, which at least, sips gas but won't leave our newest driver in the house, stranded.
"An obscure methodological change lowered a key measure of inflation in January, prompting questions about how government statistical agencies produce and report economic data." Oh really now. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/13/b...
βThe oil and gas industryβs financial strategy has been βpray for war,β because those are the conditions under which they make money,β said one an oil industry financial analyst. βThey have to have a big price spike every few years literally to make ends meet.β

We're all of course further shocked to learn that when this frivolous and unserious child wasn't trying out perky outfits at pressers or peddling influence to corporations, she treated her Senate seat like an endless taxpayer-comped Bachelorette Weekend.

This chronicle of how Jeff Bezos destroyed WaPo is very interesting. It shows us a Bezos who is an utterly unserious person on all issues of the day. But he is obsessed with becoming ever richer, and, apparently, with good food. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/14/b...

The Pentagon is now recruiting Wall Street bankers by promising them access to foreign royals and our nation's secrets to help them raise $ for their next fund. Offering salaries of $300-$500,000.
