I can testify that "just before going to bed" is the absolute worst time to discover that you can sing the bit from WB Yeats's The Second Coming that goes "Things fall apart/The centre cannot hold" to the tune of the chorus of The Bucket of Water Song.

Finders Keepers Megamix!
YouTube video by TVCream
Richard Stilgoe's Finders Keepers theme. He'd been listening to Cabaret Voltaire, hadn't he?

I find those sorts of videos are often made by someone who's freshly graduated in some media subject, and just wants to share their knowledge, so they rarely come from a place of total cynicism. But on the other hand, they're rarely worth watching.

Composed, of course, by Fritz Spiegl, the musicologist who also compiled several toilet books of amusing misprints. Not to be confused with Denys Parsons, the musicologist who also compiled several toilet books of amusing misprints.

Absolutely, but the other events had more direct impact on people's lives, and if you didn't follow the news that closely (which I'd say most kids don't) the Berlin Wall would have seemed more distant.

I'm *fairly* sure I saw at least one of them in situ when the show first aired on BBC2. I was definitely somehow able to make the connection when I first saw The Simpsons proper at Mate With Sky's house. I've also got very vague memories of another cartoon the show had, about a psychiatrist.

Yes, it sounds like the theme from something forgettable with Marisa Tomei in it.
One thing I noticed on hearing it again: a bizarre excess of reverb. Weird.

Griff hands Mel a large pink pill as the punchline to a sketch about prescription tranquillisers.
Morris in a never-used scene from Brass Eye (which is, however, clipped in the title sequence) brandishing the very same prop.
As someone who never caught the Oxide Ghosts film on tour, I'm enjoying the outtakes now going up on Michael Cummings YouTube channel, especially the revelation that the original Cake prop was repurposed from a 1995 edition of Smith & Jones.

The top brass take a quick look at the Golden Suitcase Int Used Tele. othmonfiations Superintensknt, the I hither Executive !Meer, and the Executive Engineerβthe top brass from the GPOβdiscuss with The Golden Shoe pro-ducer Wilke Lloyd, the signifi-cance of 'The Golden Suitcase. Would the SUIIC2St interfere with low flying aircraft? No, it was decided it wouldn't. Would the Golden Suitcase in-fringe air space? No It sounds almost lames Bond-like. But the Golden Sumaw which will be rushed around the country by Golden (In is a box of tricks that adds new glom to The Golden Shoe.
By operating a by stick in the case, contestants raise and lower the gun in the studio. But there is one proviso. .ontathed in the Golden Suit-case mechanism is a button to her the bolt. In fact what will really happen is that when a contestant at home pushes the fire button technicians in the studio will meive a signal, they will also push a button. and then the bolt is fired. "You sec," said filske Lloyd, "we don't want any nut shoot-ing the audience or Bob Monk-home. We still have a lot of technical problems to sort out before it goes on." Our picture below shows (left to right) A. E. Luck, J. Atkinson, and M. P. Tamblin looking at the suitcase with producer Mike Lloyd.
The Golden Shot pioneers interactive television with the high tech Golden Suitcase. I've never found confirmation one way or the other on this, but - this is a load of made-up publicity bollocks that couldn't possibly have really worked, isn't it?

Oh, good heavens.
I will say, despite a tempting premise - Trigger is an architect designing a building shaped like a giant knocker, so for inspiration he has to look at loads of knockers - the best bits are the shots of '70s Soho, and the all-pervasive traffic noise during the interior scenes.

It's been used on quite a few film soundtracks (mainly horror) in the last decade or so. Wasn't it always one of the Pixies Songs Everyone Knows, though? It just happened to outlast the likes of Gigantic and Debaser.

Let it be noted that at one time there was a nearly com-plete record. Jack had films of all his shows, but like the filmed and taped records of the Steve Allen and Johnny Carson years, they are all gone nowβexcept for the few films Jack gave to Margie, Alexander King's widow, and, among a few others he gave away, those he turned over to the Kennedys for their archives. Much of the record was dated, of course, and of little value except to historians of one of the most important media of communication in his-tory. Jack realized this. So, after storing the films for years, he finally decided he could do so no longer. He began tip-ping his garbage man for picking up three films a visit. Jack still had fans. One day, the garbage man stopped by to say, "There was no sound on that last segment, Mr. Paar." The garbage man was showing the films to his family at home. His was perhaps the last family in America to see Jack Paar in his vintage period.
These days the phrase "lost media" can refer to something as tepid as an edition of Gat Fresh that doesn't happen to be on YouTube at the moment. For the strong stuff, you need to track down the descendants of Jack Paar's binman.
