We had a great day for world book day today. We read lots of stories, made and acted out some helicopter stories and had a lovely relaxing day enjoying our books. Thanks for your continued support 😁

Today in the garden there was an emerging interest in colours. We set up a fun game promoting colour identification, gross motor and critical thinking. They did amazingly, super job!🔴🟡🔵🟢🟠
We would like to share that we will be celebrating World Book Day 📚on Thursday 5th March. Children can wear pyjamas and bring their favourite book. ( please label book with child’s name)
Thanks
⭐️Red Group Reminder⭐️
just a reminder that the red group stay and play is on the 3rd of march! Everyone is welcome to stay and play with your child from drop off, usually lasting around an hour but can be longer or shorter if you wish, thank you!🥰- Hannah
🌟 REMINDER 🌟
It is the PINK groups stay and play this Thursday 26th February. Please if you can stay at drop off and enjoy some time with your little one for, a play, some snack and meet their peers. Hope to see you all there. Thanks. Kirsty 😃
Charlie arrived at Carron yesterday to support us with our listening skills, story telling and singing
“Nessie has big claws” BW
Today some children took part in an outdoor walk around the school grounds. In honour of burns day and carrying on the interest of the child, which is different animal prints, we began looking for the Loch Ness monster prints! The children were very engaged and were so focused on their task
At craft, we are learning about Scotland for Robert Burns Day. We have created Scotland flags and our own tartan. R - “For Scotland” P - “it’s a cross”. B - “Yellow, purple, pink. It’s a pattern”
This week some children have been interested in learning about sea creatures, particularly sharks. J said “They have fins” and P said “they eat fish and meat”
We are all ready for our festive lunch 🎅🌲
Outdoors, some children are loving the mud kitchen/water area. I provided some fun and messy resources to make some “potions”, the children also gathered some natural resources. They turned out amazing! What a fun and messy way to promote creativity, fine and gross motor and problem solving🧪💧✨🍁
Today a special guest arrived at Carron ELC, say hello to Jingles… Countdown to Christmas has begun 🎅🎄☃️❄️
Our tuff tray has been changed to nursery rhymes this week! The children have been very engaged with singing and rhyming throughout all nursery areas, to help support the children’s phonological awareness I put out all different rhyming provocations.🎶
We had another trip to the woods today. We stayed a bit longer and built the toilet tent, made a shelter and had some snack at camp!🏕️🍊
Nene our safety elephant came with us to the woods to help remind us on how to keep ourselves safe. We had good looking eyes, listening ears and all children listened to all instructions perfectly.🐘
Shapes and patterns have taken over the craft area! Using children’s current interest I created some different activities for the children to take part in that encouraged fine motor, mathematical language, shape, size and measure📏⭐️
“The number says 1,2 and 5” C
“We need to mix it altogether” S
Yesterday the children helped to make Swiss roll for our pudding at lunch time today.
We had to measure, weigh, pour and mix, exploring our mathematical skills, early language and fine motor motor skills. 🍥
To start Nursery Rhyme week we held a peep session. Adults and children enjoyed the activities on offer. We sang traditional rhymes and learned some new rhymes.
2 little fishes swimming in the tank one named Philips and one named Frank swim away Ph swim away F swim back Ph and swim back F
“You write the ingredients and I’ll draw the pictures. That means your the author and I’m the illustrator” “The ingredients mean what we need to make the food” “This is my receipt I got after I bought the ingredients from Aldi. £90.10p” - B
To allow children to become more familiar with different types of text/print, we added more recipe books, lists, menus and receipts at mealtimes area. A few children particularly have shown a deep interest in this and have therefore progressed to created their own recipe and shopping list/receipts.
Some amazing firework pictures were made today. We used some straws stuck together to create our masterpieces. What a fun and creative time we all had🎆🖌️
“Stay away from the fire and don’t touch” R “Only let grown ups touch fireworks”C
The boys and girls at craft were very busy making their playdough bonfires. We had lots of discussions around fire safety and what to do to keep us safe. This was also a fun activity to practice fine motor, language, co-ordination and colour. How amazing!🔥🎆
Today at craft I provided some multicoloured paper and glitter for some finger mark making. The children were encouraged to use their finger to create their own firework shapes. This helps develop fine motor skills, imagination and colour recognition as well as having fun getting messy with glitter✨
“Mine is purple sparkly” P “It makes a big bang in a sky” J “I saw one before, it’s so pretty” B
In preparation for bonfire night most of the boys and girls were very busy creating their own glitter fireworks. They were developing their fine motor skills by spreading the glue and picking up the glitter in a pincer grip. What beautiful masterpieces they have created!🎆🤩
“This is tricky to pick up with these” (tongs) L “I can cut the squiggly lines” S
“This is my broom. I’m the witch from the Room on the Broom story” B “This is my skeletons head and all his bones” R
At craft this week we are strengthening our fine motor skills through mark making, scissor control and threading. We are developing our pincer grip by using tweezers/tongs and exploring small objects such as google eyes and cotton buds.
“Leaf, stone, stick, leaf, stone, stick….” H
“Look I made a pattern” E
We used some natural materials brought in by someone from their garden. We intentionally set out a few pattern examples and role modelled mathematical language relating to patterns, also discussing texture and size of our materials. Here are a few examples that children made. #MathsWeekScotland
“It’s so loud” “I can shake it hard” “This one sounds a bit quiet”
Today in the garden we provided some empty bottles and asked the children if they would like to chose their own natural resources to make some music shakers. They searched the garden and finally decided on some stones, twigs, rice and pasta to create different sounds.
“This is so fun” L “This leaf is bigger than this one” S
The children requested paint in the garden. As the children were so engaged in using natural materials, we combined them both and provided a fun experience for the children to enjoy by leaf printing! Look at what they created 🍁🎨🖌️
“This is my daddy. I done 8 stones, it’s his mouth” J
Due to the children showing an ongoing interest in art, we gathered our own natural materials out in the garden to create some transient art. We had discussions about colour of leaves with seasonal changes, comparing shapes of stones and berries and exploring counting of our materials.
