true story: sometimes when I'm feeling down I log onto the 10P discord just to see if annika has said anything funny that day
Wait does just everyone we know have the same internet crush and it's Annika
It's so disconcerting! I used to be such a ragged little punk who lived on strangers' couches and had no mailing address and I do not understand how I am suddenly the kind of person whose life is made of harps and teacups and like who am I.
it's working
why do you always say the best things
A very specific Japanese teacup and saucer set that a teahouse in Montreal imports every year in one new colour/pattern (they only ever have the one at a time so if you don't get it that year you are never getting it).
Harps, apparently (R.I.P. to my ability to ever have money for anything else π).
It's no longer Friday but I'm still in love with these stories! Stay tuned for issue release updates coming very soon...
Seconding what Gordon said, I truly admire your taste in books and have made a number of much-enjoyed literary discoveries thanks to your posts. And honestly I also admire your forthright posts regarding the miserable state of mental health and disability support in Canada.
Today, all proceeds from the Cursed Morsels store will go to rent relief for this family in Minneapolis, affected by the ongoing ICE occupation:

"The spores and pollen flung into pores, concrete, every break and crack in a five-mile radius. The air was hazy with the gold dust, sticking and oozing, vomiting in its sweetness."

it's *so* good!
For no reason, just posting this here as a reminder that art doesnβt need to be owned by a corporation and sold and conglomerated for billions.

I have been trying to finish this show for my entire adult life to date.
Granted, I am *terrible* at making time to watch a show, but still. There is so much of it.

I cannot stop thinking about it! What a ludicrously wild ride.
This is a blurred image of a collage with one clear image spotlight floating in it. In the spotlight, a woman's grainy cleavage and a beetle crawling over it are visible.

These are ever so slightly pre-2020s but Where the Wild Ladies Are by Aoko Matsuda and The Lonesome Bodybuilder by Yukiko Motoya are among both my favourite surreal/weird collections and my favourite works of contemporary Japanese literature. Also Life Ceremony is amazing.
Also, aw, I am touched to be thought of! I've been having a very weird/sick winter but making the most of it as best I can. I hope you're doing all right π€
As someone who's been reading your work for years, to me it seems like you continue to develop an ever more deft hand with a phrase/sentence/arc! Your stories were always great, IMO, but over time I do feel they've gotten even better at those little subtleties that unexpectedly take the breath away.
New Suzan Palumbo story = the good news I needed today! As always, a gorgeous and moving piece of prose from a writer who just keeps getting better and better and better. This one unfurls with such a delicate touch that almost belies how affecting it is in the end π€
I am so beyond emotional right now, because my @khoreo.bsky.social non-fiction essay about the importance of Greek and BIPOC voices in Greek myth adaptations, the angriest thing Iβve ever written, has been longlisted in the Best Short Non Fiction category in the @bsfa.bsky.social Awards.
Congratulations, Danai! This is such a perfect essay.
oh my gosh I love this game!
