It's like, everything else is horrible, can I at least go outside and feel the sun on my face?
No. I cannot.
Back down to temperatures in the 30s. Grey skies. Raining every day. I fucking hate the god damn North-East. Miserable, grueling bullshit sandwich. There is no redeeming factor to living in this are. I wish I were never born.
After putting it off for forever, I finally updated my website.

I refreshed the blog, added past releases to the "about" page.
Yet to do: I need to add a "My Games" page with hype copy and instruction manuals for each game. Coming soon!
Ah, cool. I got Marie Curie!

Sitting outside, watching about a hundred geese flying over. I pulled up my phoneβs compass to check their heading and, son of a bitch, right on course. Due north.

Had a dream the house was flooding so I did the logical thing and grabbed a surfboard and started surfing around the living room.
Then I snapped awake after a wipeout and realized I really had to pee.
At long last, 5-Minute Dungeon is ready to play!
I'd love to get your thoughts and opinions on it, problems you encounter, etc.
(Remember, this was meant to be a very simple game with limited animation, no sound, etc. So, you might want to lower expectations...)

I attempted a speed run but I had to try 3 times to beat the wizard, resulting in a best time of roughly 3 1/2 minutes. All in all, taking time to read dialogue, figure out puzzles and explore COULD take 5 minutes, but it's probably more like a 2 minute dungeon, if I'm honest.
Added health bars and missile sprites for the turn-based combat sequence between the player and the evil wizard. Not skill-based; the game rolls a d20 to determine if the arrows/fireballs hit, miss, or crit. Only the player can crit, and it's an insta-kill. I'm not so lucky in this example, though.
The amazing title screen to my amazing 5-minute dungeon for the month of March.
4 floor tiles arranged in a pattern; the first puzzle you must solve to unlock a door and gain access to the majority of the dungeon.
Here's a gnome with a yellow key to unlock the yellow door. Beyond the yellow door is the wizard's chamber where the golden chalice resides. You must answer the gnome's riddle if you wish to gain the key!
Inside the wizard's chamber, an evil wizard awaits you. He'll sling fireballs at you, but you can shoot arrows back. It's 10 hits to defeat him, but if you can roll a critical hit, you'll defeat him in one shot! However, the chalice remains hidden even after you defeat him! Think you can find it?
Highlights from my 5-minute dungeon, including a title screen, the first puzzle, a gnome with a riddle and the evil wizard! (see the alt text for better descriptions.)
I'm so close to finished, just need to add some extra bits of narration to give the player guidance and arrow/fireball sprites.
Nah, this shit is hard. Iβve been trying to make games since the days of Basic in the early 90s and nothing ever clicked. Iβm just now finally starting to feel somewhat competent, but itβs still just basically βtry whatever and see what works.β
Meanwhile, Iβm sitting on the porch listening to the radio and occasionally skating on the street. Had the cats and dog with me, but they all wanted to go back inside. So, itβs just me enjoying some decent weather (at last).
Added a boss fight to my tiny RPG. You basically stand still and trade shots at each other, hoping the rng weighs in your favor 10 times. Iβm kinda thinking about making a critical hit an insta-kill, just to make it feel extra rewarding to roll one.
I've been at this since December, trying to figure out turn-based combat, how to fit a whole dialogue system into a Pico 8 cartridge and failing horribly. Changing engines, changing scope, battling burnout... One step forward, two steps back, etc.
I mean, fuck. I just want to make something fun.
Working on monthly bite-sized RPG adventures using a "5 room dungeon" format. Quick, little turn-based games with puzzles to solve, secrets to uncover, NPCs to talk to, hidden objects/treasure to search for. Very brief, light on combat.
Here's the first challenge of this first dungeon being solved.
A black cat barely fitting into a harness to sit outside and touch grass. Darth Chungus
Brown and white cat sitting in the grass.
Jack and Jones finally getting to enjoy the outside and touch grass again. #caturday
The Democrats being completely useless is one thing; actively making things worse is another.
Trying out Dawnsbury Days from @dawnsbury.bsky.social to get my Pathfinder 2e fix.
It's great! I survived my first two encounters to get soundly trounced by an orc and his gang of kobolds after missing every attack. Getting Shadowheart BG3 vibes. #igMISS
Here he is, the worst Belmont:
Fetterman needs to respect deez nuts. What a sorry sack of shit. STFU.

The answer to the FCC/Colbert thing should be simple...
Invite a Republican onto the show and then just eviscerate him. No lowball questions, no human interest angle. Just roast them live and watch them squirm over questions about Epstein, etc. Equal time, mother fucker.
Intarsia knitted patch that says "PUNCH NAZIS"
My yarn just keeps getting tangled up in these weird patterns like it's trying to tell me something.

Earlier today my autoplay pulled up the "$3,000 laptop" video from 12 days ago, then "Apple II on a PC Card" from 2 years ago, and then "LGR Oddware - Creative 3D0 blaster" from 5 years ago. I was busy working in the other room, so I just let them play. Every now and then, it just does this.
A knitted patch that says βFUCK ICEβ
Itβs been a while since Iβve knitted something. #fiberarts #fuckice #resist
I was watching the women's luge and was almost more impressed by whoever it was trying to fly the drone down the track behind them at 60mph without crashing into the walls. Of course, they couldn't keep up.
Saggy Nutz welcomes you.
I doubt anyone capable making a decision will see this, but please make more episodes of #TheMuppetShow
Sabrina Carpenter's duet of "Islands in the Stream" with Kermit/Miss Piggy was really, really good, and gave so much nostalgia to an already nostalgia soaked experience. More of that, please.
Me: "I just need a placeholder name for these characters. I'll name them something better after I get combat working."
Meanwhile, later: "Saggy Nutz hit Itchy Balls for -5 hp. Bell End is now attacking Throbbing Member."
