ugh i'm sorry to hear. i support you being a bear. i will leave out food for you so you can acclimate to human presence until i eventually get too close and you maul me
Pretty crazy how important the blockade of a trade route is right now
i think tomorrow i am going to go shopping on my own. this evening i might do the taper cuts on the legs for my bookshelf
worth remembering, David Lynch directed βfix your hearts or dieβ specifically at transphobes. it wasnβt a generic βno mean people allowedβ statement, it was said by his Twin Peaks character in defense of a trans woman he cared for and deeply respected.
Yes.... Pornographic rube goldberg machines...
i think the world is ready for Sex Whizzball
been working on stickers to sell today
being rude is so greeat
Holly just like "why do strange babies keep happening"
yesterday i replaced a busted shoulder button from a friend's ds lite :)
i have successfully redone the physical cards box for the liquid crystal dreams tarot, for publshing through makeplayingcards :)
oh! i don't think i need this at the moment anymore. but maybe in the future...?
do i know anyone with adobe illustrator i could potentially badger for a favor? (making a really simple file out of a png layer i send, then saving it as an adobe illustrator file)
first name: i liked the sound of it, i thought it'd be hard to misspell, and ada lovelace *helped* but i didn't name myself after her!!
middle name 1: picked from my parents' list of names for the other assignment for me
middle name 2: i just wanted something fancy and flowery!
if you're in san francisco early for GDC, saturday and sunday will be the last two days of this interactive art showcase!
idk. i guess i'm making peace preemptively with lcdt being republished for other peoples' gain. just makes me sad how much everything is marketing - it's not enough to make smoething cool, you also have to sell it more effectively than anyone else
this kind of thing is what makes me kind of never want to make anythiing cool
as i struggled to wake up my brain insisted on inventing "Hypha-tan", a moe mascot for the concept of mycelial decay as an end stage for complex life. in my mind's eye she's a weird too-wide face (think like ZUN level but uncanny and bad) emerging from a vague fuzzy cube to beg for dead animals
"are ya winning son" meme but all text is replaced with "he's actually beautiful flowers"
call him flowers the way he's actually beautiful
youtuber thumbnail with surprised face captioned "HOLD UP!! HE'S ACTUALLY BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS???", and a picture of the super mario 64 metal cap and its reflection spheremap, an image of pink flowers
This is a very good image. Perhaps one of the best images
honestly i feel most limited by cost of materials and mental struggling lately lol. maybe a pallet of hardwood lumber
torn between a hot air rework station for electronics or a large cnc router for wood. or maybe just a table for sewing...
you know, on top of all the other reasons it's bad, i hate "let's make up slurs for robots!" because it buys into the extremely dangerous myth that LLMs are people, or very similar to people, which leads to misunderstanding them.
i'm going to try not to let "i don't like them" get in the way of understanding *what they are* and what they can do.
and at the same time, i'm going to try not to let the salesmen selling them use my intellectual curiosity as an in to get me on their side
we should understand these things because they're interesting and relevant. i've come to feel antipathy towards them but it's important to me that that not change my perception of the world - i, and we, have to trust our senses and our intellect about this because otherwise we will lose our way
for example, we assume it "knows" anything about what it is doing or "experiencing". but i'm not convinced chatbots do, there's a lot of evidence they don't, and it seems prima facie unlikely that they would. ask "did you actually read the file" and it answers probabilistically, not factually
out of the many reasons i'm not a fan of the current wave of generative ai... i find it hard to call it anything but a cognitohazard, that when something behaves like a conversational partner, we automatically start assuming it has all kinds of traits that it simply does not have
i say "could be possible" because i also think the companies and culture pushing them is making it very hard to use them responsibly and effectively
i think it could be possible to use the current wave of generative ai responsibly and effectively but honestly i'm just not very interested in trying for a bunch of reasons
