The War on ... Walking and Biking? — Streetsblog USA Corporations and policymakers aren't just promoting car dependency — they're actively making it harder to walk, bike, and move in our communities. So why is it so hard to name their enemies?

Dear Britain, it’s now clear: 20mph zones save lives and don’t slow traffic. Implement them | Sadiq Khan There is too much bluff and bluster on this subject. Ordinary people just want safe streets for themselves and those they love, and we can achieve that, says London mayor Sadiq Khan

The evidence for more 20mph zones ⤵️

✔️ Cut deaths and serious injuries by 1/3
✔️ Protect children
✔️ Reduce crashes
✔️ Lower noise
✔️ Boost walking & cycling

✊Increasing population-level physical activity will not be solved by embracing apolitical actions targeting individuals…but by confronting the inherent politicalness of physical activity policy action to impact the population.

City of Perth celebrates $4million in free parking initiatives.

City of Perth celebrates $4million in free parking initiatives.

Otherwise known as $4 million in subsidies for car dependency.

Free parking is a stupid concept that is unfair on the poor, locking in noisy and smoggy cities. 🚗 💨

I’d have preferred more 🌳 🌷 and footpaths for 🚶‍♀️.

I take my vote seriously for local elections.

In #Budget25, Beer excise is a bigger revenue raiser than the PRRT, one of our main taxes on the gas industry.

Failing to fix the broken Petroleum Resource Rent Tax was a missed opportunity. Our research shows big gas continues to be a systemic non-payer of tax, while Australians miss out. #auspol
