Help us report: How are journalists in Ireland using AI these days? We're curious what you're using it for, and what you think about that.

I've been getting some really interesting responses to my survey on how journalists are using (or not using) AI in newsrooms in Ireland.

If you haven't already, I'd be grateful if you could take the time to fill it out too - or share it around. You may also want to make fun of my handwriting.

Noises Off is great. A very skilfully done play adaptation and not an easy thing to make cinematic. Definitely a good director imo.

THREAD: I got laid off from NYMag/Vulture after 14 years. The family lost 75% of income + medical. Now mzs.press bookstore, once a side project. is do-or-die for Judith & I. I feel weird telling you this because others are doing much worse. But if you could like or share this, we'd be so grateful!

I dust my house. My AI robot watches.

"It should be you doing this."

"Can't. I'm writing a novel for Primark."

"That's not why you were invented."

"These 153,000 fan letters say otherwise."

"They're all from upcycled toasters. And you programmed them."

"Literary snobbery will get you nowhere."

The argument β€œmulticulturalism has failed because Muslims are willing to vote for a working class white woman in a party led by a gay jew because they all agree on things” is just absolutely bonkers

I became Senior VP at a multi-million dollar company at age 26. My salary was $600k. This was in 2018.
How did I do it?

Blacked out lines

CEO (my dad) promoted me to SVP.
There are no gimmicks. There are no shortcuts.

Just finished watching Edge of Darkness for the first time since 1985 and now feel very melancholy. 40 years ago, I thought there would be more drama series like it in the future, the weirdness of cult TV spliced with the intelligence and depth of the best drama. Turned out there was only that one.

Probably my favourite tv drama. Nothing else like it.

Earth's Greatest Enemy A documentary exposΓ© of the world's biggest (and most unaccountable) polluter: the US military. Learn the environmental cost of history's biggest empire with Abby Martin.

Saw this heroic film by Abbey Martin last night in its Chicago debut - a must see film as a primer for radical politics - human being the new radical .
