As a Texan soccer player, I can verify that water breaks (and heat stroke) are a thing here. I’ve passed out more than once while playing, at my peak fitness level. And we had more substitutions than they have now.

Is there a term for this? There needs to be one.
What is a mast year?
What don’t I know about hats? How are they staying on?
A while back I learned something mindblowing about the geological history of the Mediterranean Sea, and I just can't get it out of my head.
Now I'm going to make it *your* problem too. Sorry.
Hang onto your hat. This is wild.

Climate.gov is the main source of timely climate-related information for the public. It will stop publishing new information because the Trump administration laid off everyone who worked on it.
Screen capture of the front page of the Climate.gov site, displaying its logo in the upper left, a map of the CONUS in the middle left, and the titles of recently published stories on the right.
If you are shocked, alarmed, or disappointed about the news that Climate.gov has been effectively shut down with the firing of its content team, here are some things you can do to help! (1/6) 🧪
I’ve got a working theory that parents of young children wrote Final Destination. Watching a promo for it is just a normal minute in my mind played out on screen.
Do you know the significance of the various symbols/imagery? King Triton is a bit unexpected…
Is it missing its head? It looks like it’s missing its head.
"As it happens, Columbia was founded in 1754 as King’s College. An imprudent choice now could result in the school becoming the de facto fief of an aspiring angry king."

A sign advertising President Crumbled Feta.
Honestly, President Crumbled Feta will do a better job than the guy currently in the White House.
Well, last night we went through our first tornado watch since the NOAA cuts. I was mad about the cuts beforehand but now, awake randomly through the night wondering of the effects of those cuts would impact my family and community by us not getting a tornado alert in time… mad as hell. #NOAA
What on earth needs to be done to reverse this?? Weather affects absolutely everyone, regardless of politics. Where is the outrage among the republicans that voted this administration?? Do they even realize when a line is crossed anymore…
Scissors! Scissors?
An upside-down American flag hangs from El Capitan near Yosemite National Park’s Horsetail Fall on Saturday to protest the thousands of federal job cuts made by President Donald Trump’s administration. Tracy Barbutes/Special to the Chronicle
Brilliant protest. Yosemite National Park workers hung an upside-down American flag — traditionally a symbol of distress or a national threat — thousands of feet off the ground on the side of El Capitan.
I keep thinking this too!
Feels like we’re witnessing a new germ (in the shape of Musk) infecting us, and now our immune system is reacting.
Will the germ cause too much damage before we can regain control?
Will it kill the host?
I’ve been watching too much White Collar. This seems like a totally normal event.
Okay, a sincere question: way back when Twitter was a different sort of place, people who listened to Morning Edition on @wnyc.org would engage with us there. It was really nice! It made the show better. You caught our mistakes, laughed at our music and asked us really smart questions. 1/3
Very excited (and a bit nervous) to announce that I will be hiring two Postdocs for my new group(!) in Copenhagen to study the Neanderthal and Denisovan DNA which survives in present-day humans. Retweet will be much appreciated :)

How tall was the wall originally?
More of this around the U.S. please!
This makes me so incredibly depressed. Grew up in Texas and this new political/educational landscape is so different from what I experienced and was taught.
I’ve worked in parts of the world where exfoliation is at play instead of deposition. Does that happen here?
Your artwork is so lovely! Evokes the feeling of the place so beautifully.
Nevada voters! Check!
