Donald Trump has called that same officer a “thug,” a “coward,” and a “murderer.” How can you work for someone who is spreading lies about an incident that you saw with your own eyes? Does President Trump’s description of Babbitt’s death make you wonder if he might, possibly, be misleading the public about other things?

Ok. First point: the filibuster doesn't exist in Senate rules. It's a *consequence* of the rules, which lack a way for a bare majority to easily force an end to debate. If debate doesn't end, there's no vote.

Upshot: to filibuster, you just get the floor, start talking. 3/

In 1990, when Congress created a protection for migrant children subject to abuse, it didn't anticipate backlogs would get bad enough that beneficiaries would wait years for a visa, and so never thought to explicitly bar deportation for winners.

Today the BIA greenlit deportation in that situation.

This woman, US citizen living in Skokie, was detained at Ohare yesterday, taken to Broadview, then transferred to a detention facility in Wisconsin, now released. We know all this not because of DHS, who repeatedly denied that they even had her, but because her phone was pinging in those locations.

It's impossible to describe the kind of moral violation it is to leave shipwreck victims in the water with no help, even when you're the one that caused the shipwreck. At sea ships help each other and sort out the diplomatic bullshit later because at sea you can only rely on each other.
