Happy Friday The 13th yβall. #fridaythe13th
the lady who brought me truffle was going to try and catch young ones for me since i was sad about her last egg sac, so maybe i can pretend truffle adopted some π
i was so excited, though i knew i shouldn't get my hopes up. poor girl keeps trying and it just isn't working out
truffle isn't carrying her egg sac and i can't find it anywhere. i think she may have immediately eaten it because it was infertile π
Hanging out and happy
the first egg sac didn't end up hatching, but if this one does i can actually release a majority of the babies since truffle was caught locally! i will absolutely keep a handful for myself though, along with maybe giving a few to friends c:
thankfully no, haha
you can mute the spider hashtag and you'll stop seeing my posts
she laid an egg sac! luckily not in her water dish, haha
egg sac part 2: spider boogaloo
A large brown wolf spider is hiding under some fake foliage in her enclosure. There is webbing all around, and in her pedipalps she holds an egg sac that she is putting the finishing touches on.
miss momma truffle has done it again! her second egg sac π₯° #spider #wolfspider #tigrosa #tigrosahelluo #arachnophiles
right after typing this i got up to check on her and she has, in fact, laid an egg sac π
once they start dispersing, i'll seperate them. luckily this spider was caught locally, so i can release a majority of the babies! i'd just keep them long enough to make sure they're past that fragile stage. i will absolutely be keeping a handful though, and a few friends might want one as well c:
there would be about 100-300, but they're very fragile so unfortunately a good bit of them won't make it very far. that's why spiders have so many! and with wolf spiders, the mom gives the babies a piggy back ride for about 2 weeks, then they're ready to go out on their own
that's not an abdomen, that's a whole coconut!
are you maybe thinking of this spider? she's considered the longest-lived spider on record, a trap door spider that made it to 43. which is really cool, i didn't know about her! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_...
about two years i believe, and i got her this size so i have no idea how old she is
maybe! i thought she was fully grown, but you're right, that is a possibility. still, right in the open and in her water dish is an interesting spot, haha
right??? if she does lay another egg sac a part of me hopes its fertile because she's got like supermodel genes or something, but i don't think that's very likely since the other one wasn't, haha
A large brown wolf spider is stretched over the water dish in her enclosure so that her body is above the water. Under her there is bits of webbing visible.
i've found truffle stretched over her water dish a couple times now, and tonight there's webbing visible. which has me a little worried her next egg sac is going to be laid in her water dish?? π #spider #wolfspider #tigrosa #tigrosahelluo #arachnophiles
a baby regal jumping spider
she gets cuter every DAY
- Do you fill your water dish with substrate at me, sir?
- no sir I do not fill my water dish with substrate at you, sir. I merely fill my water dish with substrate.
Cleaning day. #spider #tarantula
i just saw some of your other pictures of her, she was gorgeous! she had a good, long life with you π i'm so glad there are other people who care so deeply for spiders

big spiders are so silly, I love them, I wish they were big enough to kiss on their forehead like cats
some more details, because i'm very proud of how i got everything to match π
yes! they get a yellow star when they eat, a pink heart when they molt, and i ordered blue water drops for waterings but they ended up too big so i'm looking for a replacement π
oooh, that's exciting! welcome to the world of spider keeping! π
