Literally we were all just sitting and sobbing, truly unreal work from the master. If I were a voter in 1937, I would have the most difficult time deciding between Stanwyck and Dunne
The Academy Award for Best Actress of 1937
Rewatched Stella Dallas over the weekend, and it just re-emphasized how insane this Best Actress category is. Like, you had four perfectly wonderful nominees and THATβS what won?! π

not sure if i have gay guy pop fan blindness or what, but it feels like "midnight sun" is an early contender for song of the summer. like, i truly see its popularity just getting bigger and bigger in the lead up to the summer (and the emergence of the "stateside" remix is only gonna help)

Rich people used to be patrons of the arts, building extravagant theaters to show movies, theatre, and opera. Now theyβre annoying business majors with zero creativity or capacity for taste, and I hope one day they all realize how pitiful they are
oh how i miss you every day. gone too soonπ
I can't emphasize enough that the idea of a Paramount-WB merger producing 30-40 movies a year is an absurd fiction. First WB will become the "classy" label within Par (which is only about Rescue Rangers, Scream and existing IP). Then it will become the specialty or streaming label. Then it will die.
I understand the instinct to donate to orgs that are helping trans folks flee red states but let's not forget about the orgs that are still fighting for trans folks in red states.

For those who are hesitant about the validity of this or thinking itβs limited to major cities, Iβll say that I eavesdropped on some teenagers in a Barnes & Noble when I was visiting my suburban home town in Texas a few months ago, and one said, βYeah, DVDs are back in, Iβm so happy,β so I have hope
happy birthday, cutie! π

KPop Demon Hunters, I believe, will be a great βentry pointβ movie for many younger film enthusiasts, whoβs curiosity may be sparked by what the company (and physical media) have to offer. The more I think about it, the more I support the release
underrated aspect of this: some kids might get to see special features about how movies are made
still think Frankenstein was pretty bad, Demon Hunters is a surprise for many reasons (but in my opinion, a welcome one), giggling and kicking my feet at zero mention of Tr**n Dr**ms π€
As someone whoβs been collecting Criterion for about a decade, I wonβt lie, itβs pretty fun to watch studios during awards season go βYou know what would entice voters? A very nice Blu-ray editionβ variety.com/2026/film/ne...
