Quote graphic from Professor Mina Fazel, Chair of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, which says: "If we design systems that young people can truly trust, perhaps no child will be worried to speak of their struggles, as they will have better appreciation and control over what is done with their information and with whom it is shared. And that, I think, is the measure of a just health system, fit for this next generation."
π’ NEW PAPER: How can we build mental health systems that adolescents trust enough to speak honestly & that are safe enough to receive what they say?

Stimulant ADHD medications work differently than thought | WashU Medicine
A study from WashU Medicine shows for the first time that commonly prescribed drugs for ADHD do not act on the brainβs attention circuitry.
What if we've misunderstood how ADHD stimulants work? WashU Medicine brain imaging and child neurology teams joined forces to uncover where in the brain these drugs act β knowledge that could improve how attention disorders are treated. medicine.washu.edu/news/stimula...

Digital Interventions May Help to Reach More Suicidal People
The big question in suicide prevention is how we can reach people at risk who would not normally seek professional help. There are new exciting developments.
A one-size-fits-all approach (characteristic of some approaches) does not work in suicide prevention. What matters is connecting with the story into suicide- as the person sees it, recognising that every person and their inner experience of distress is unique. www.psychologytoday.com/au/blog/the-...

75% of mental illnesses begin in childhood.
We need a breakthrough for the 1 in 5 children affected. But without research, it's just guesswork as to the solution.
MQ invests in scientific research to help people like Flo whose childhood was impacted by mental illness.
