Remember, a bailout is always a loan not just 'free money' if they had bailed out home owners, they would've still owed the government money that they can't pay back to banks in the first place. and that the owners who do end up paying would be doing it with government money and banks would profit.

But my main point wasn't whose to blame, the point was that bailing out the banks at the time was the right choice for everybody. It's why the economy managed to get back without an actual economic depression like the ones in the past.

Yes some of those things are also true, multiple things can be true but it's up to you to decide if you take out a loan you know you can't afford. The same is happening now with students putting using credit/Klarna debt. People should stop relying on credit and only buy things they can afford.
