So there was no lack of incredible stuff at the Joffrey's Winning Works showcase, but Daniel Ojeda's "The Visitors" is burned in my brain forever. Here's my writeup for @culturecombine.bsky.social

Wife, journalist, photographer, lover of fine sandwiches and cheeses. ARTS.AND.CULTURE. Neuro-diverge AF. Desert girl raised in the prairie grass, trying to follow her heart and find her keys. Trekkie, Whovian, Buff...ster? Hit me up for nerd stuff.

Chalamet who? Had the chance to preview Winning Works at @mcachicago.bsky.social with the Grainger Academy at Joffrey Ballet and can't wait to share more on @culturecombine.bsky.social because this show was kind of mind blowing.
To be super super fair, I love driving, I love the all american road trip, and driving is my zen. It's a weird thing about me, but it's just true. I'll take any opportunity to drive.
We were just talking about the sidewalk situation out here the other day. It's very difficult to have a full mile or two of sidewalk in the suburbs even. Certain towns that attract more tourists do (like Libertyville) but even then there's exceptions.
While the premise might seem like an internet meme to some, @timberborn.bsky.social by @mechanistry.bsky.social , its adorable exterior hides a game that takes its survival mechanics seriously, and is one of the best examples of the genre released in recent memory.
You may have heard about the Xbox's demise after the announcement of Project Helix - but where does that leave Sony, and what have they been doing to prepare?
Chicago's Lunar New Year festival is a beautiful sight to behold - and luckily, we had a photographer on site to capture it. Feast your eyes on this!
I hope so. They did a Jurassic park fossil thing years back and it was kinda weird. It was just like "let's put movie fiction in with science and sell souvenirs." I hope this one's a little clearer on the distinction between what's real and isn't. Still, I bet it'll be a hit.
Keeping track of all those #ThePitt plotlines takes a lot. If you blacked out a bit, catch up with us on last week's episode before tonight's premieres:
I'm going to the press opening for this relatively soon
This is just to say that the 80s and 90s were a weird time, should you examine them through the lens of the ads of the time. And that the Clapper was actually a pretty damn good innovation. Man are 80s cars ugly though.
A weird thing I do to keep noise in the background is to play 80s and 90s commercials. There was never not a TV in the background playing Pizza Hut or Empire Carpet commercials in my house or my grandma's where I spent the majority of my time, and it's comforting. Don't come for me.
I have a genetic blood disorder. Most of the time, it doesn't affect me too horribly. Once in a while, esp. being female, it means I bleed extra, and sometimes bleed even extra on top of that.
Bleeding extra when you're already bleeding is stupid. I feel like garbage. Blah.
See a pattern here?
It's another game of "What Could Possibly Go Wrong?" on #ThePitt for episode 7, and we've got the recap. Grab a snack and join us for the recap before you dive into 2 pm, won't you?
Hey #ThePitt fans - are you ready for 1 pm?
Don't fret if you're not - we've got recaps from the past 6 hours of this 4th of July shift on tap for you, with our latest handily posted below. Follow along and let's see what happens next.
Sure, I'll do the episode recaps for the series where there's at least 20 storylines going at once and at least 15 main characters to report on at all times, she said. Because I love med shows, she said. And I still do, but damn.
Let's be honest - if I'm photo editing I'm probably in something that's neither pajamas nor quite passable as regular day apparel with crazy hair and a ramen noodle on my shoulder. And I might accidentally go out in public without realizing that's what is happening. Feral me does the art, ok?
I wrote about Chicago winter music festival fatigue and one of the exciting standouts: Music Frozen Dancing
Editor in chief Sarah Conway was on @citycastchicago.bsky.social to discuss the case of Marimar Martinez, who was shot 5 times by a Border Patrol agent last Oct. Earlier this week, Martinez testified before federal lawmakers in a forum examining use of force by the Department of Homeland Security.
Have you been wondering about #WonderMan? We did, so we checked it out. See what we thought of Marvel's latest and let us know what you think, too.
I've been losing my ability to give a fuck for years and it's almost entirely gone. If I don't belong in the room and I can't be met on an equal plane in the room, I'm not coming back to that room. If there's not room for me how I am now, just no.
I waste so much time thinking people are going to care about my mental health in any way other than to be upset at how it affects them.
I've been there for so many people's stuff and would still be and boo hoo get over it if it's me.
I fucking get it.
Have literally had no issues with #Lyft until I'm supposed to be shooting a show debut with a new venue that potentially has work for me on VDAY and then of f#%#ing course
they must never be trusted. i once had one stab me when i was presenting at a meeting. in a white shirt. there was blood.
No son, they are not "magically delicious." The workers made them delicious. This is a slogan meant to mystify the social conditions of labor
this seems very odd
A heartwarming tale of how even if you aren't subscribed to Google Nest their cameras still upload and save "about three hours" of video which can be recovered in the form of "residual data" from "backend servers," surprising even the FBI who claims to have previously believed it was impossible
