Music history is filled with absolute bangers where the lyrics are unintelligible, nonsensical, or some combination of both.
It's so bizarre to complain that music is in a language you don't speak. Nothing has to make sense!

I met a dude from Guyana who taught himself how to do recording in the jungle outdoors. He recorded me in Central Park NYC and mixed the audio and video of this. Would definitely do this again with him.

Personally I love rhyming, I love the challenge of it. It's built into the editing phase, after the first few drafts take shape. But for me that's fun. I'd never suggest that anyone play those word games if it's not serving their vision.
It also helps me remember the words sometimes...
Timely post, I was just thinking about how my favorite Xmas song (Tom Waits' "Christmas card...") has no rhyming or repeating chorus. Pure storytelling, which is really what he does best anyway. He has plenty of great examples backing up your counterproposal.
