The Bank of Canada has just cut its interest rate to 2.75%.
This decision will help to stabilize our country during the uncertain times ahead.
#Canada is strong, united and determined. 🇨🇦
My office has completed a community assessment of 40 community organizations in Guelph.
I’d like to thank everyone who took part in this study and for the incredible work they do in our city.

From coast to coast to coast, the Canadian flag, for 60 years, has been a powerful symbol of our resilience, unity, and shared values.
On the 60th anniversary of our #CanadianFlag, let’s show our unity, our pride and celebrate the wonderful country we call home.
Black Canadian history is Canadian history.
Our 2025 theme, “Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generations”, acknowledges the diversity, leadership, and legacy of Black Canadians, that are being built for future generations.

The bank of Canada has cut interest rates for a sixth time.
This is welcome relief for Canadians and a further sign that our economic plan is working.
Happy Lunar New year!
This year we welcome the year of the snake, a symbol of wisdom, strength, and intelligence.
I hope you have a happy and prosperous time with your friends and families and are able to celebrate new beginnings and reflect on your goals for the year ahead.
Today, our government invested $169.4 million in Linamar’s Innovation Driving Green Technology Project.
This is an investment in Canadian ambition, innovation, workers, and manufacturing that will create 2,300 new jobs.
We are building the #GreenEconomy of the future.
Eighty years ago today, over 7,000 prisoners, 700 of which were children, were liberated from Auschwitz.
Today, we remember them and all that they went through.
With a world that feels increasingly dangerous, we must hold these memories close.
It was wonderful getting to sit down with the U of G Debate Club.
We discussed the work that’s done in parliament, climate change, economic recovery and the issues that are most important to students today-misinformation, world conflicts, and how we can continue to make a difference.
I’m extremely proud of everything we’ve achieved for Guelph over the past 10 years.
In this spotlight article, done in collaboration with Village Media Content Studio, I reflect on some of our most recent successes in Guelph.

Inflation in December fell to 1.8%.
Our GST holiday has played an important part in bringing down price pressures.
This holiday is still in effect until February 15th.
Just a reminder that the application period for the Youth Mental Health Fund closes tomorrow.
Make sure to get your applications in!
It was wonderful getting to attend the grand opening of the Elliott’s new Edinburgh Long-Term Care Home area.
The work the Elliot has done to give their residents inclusive and home-like care is incredible. They’re truly a model for how longterm care should be done!
As a graduate of Red River College and as the MP for Guelph, it was great to see Minister Duguid, at RRC, announce $16 million in funding to the University of Guelph to lead the National Agri-food Innovation and Training Platform.
Make sure to check your bank account for the Canada Carbon Rebate!
Not only is this program putting more money in your pockets but it’s also lowering Canada’s emissions.
For the first time in history we are set to hit our emission reduction targets.
Let’s keep the cash and save the environment.
In December, Canada added 91,000 jobs. This exceeded expectations by nearly 4x the amount and is the highest growth rate since January 2023.
So let’s continue to raise wages, increase living standards, and build a stronger, fairer Canada for all Canadians.

Kids sure keep you on your toes!
It was great to visit St. Joseph’s Catholic School and discuss civics, my job as Guelph’s federal representative, and what it means to be a Canadian citizen with several Grade 5 classes.
Our next generation is energetic and eager to learn!

A great visit this morning with the team at the Chalmers Centre. We discussed their work, needs and how Guelph comes together on #FoodSecurity solutions.
Chalmers provides solutions through programs centred around accessibility, dignity and respect for all of their guests.
It has been the honor of my life to serve Guelph under Prime Minister Trudeau’s leadership, introducing environmental, social, or economic policies and programs to help Canadians.
Entering politics under the “Hope and Hard Work” banner set the focus for me personally.
Thank you PMJT.
Three Guelphites have been appointed to the #OrderOfCanada!
Congratulations, Carlton Gyles, Louise MacCallum, and Michael Barnstijn!
Thank you, Carlton for your years of veterinary research at OVC. And thank you, Louise and Michael for your ongoing philanthropy.
#Guelph is proud of each of you!
🎙️Mic check: Pierre Poilievre is wrong yet again. 🎤
A new report by leading economics professors at the University of Calgary confirms that #pollutionPricing is not driving up inflation in the way Mr. Poilievre claims.

Some more good news for Canadians! The Bank of Canada has lowered interest rates to 3.25%.
Canada was the first G7 country to cut interest rates and is now the first G7 country to do so for a fifth time.
Today’s interest rate cut is especially good for homeowners, and businesses.
Today, is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, in honour of the 14 young women who were killed at Polytechnique Montréal in 1989.
Today, 35 years later, gender-based violence is still prevalent.
As a society, we must come together to end violence against women.
Well said by Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.
Conservatives talk about putting Canada first but then they spread the broken narratives of American politicians.
This isn’t leadership.
Our government will continue to focus on the truth and building a Canada for all Canadians.
Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
This year’s theme: Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future.
Our government will continue to work with Canada’s disability community to create a barrier free Canada.

What wonderful news!
I’d like to personally congratulate President Natan Obed (@natanobed) for his continued leadership and advocacy for Inuit traditional knowledge and science.
An Inuit owned and led university is closer to becoming a reality!
