I worked on the later seasons of that Star Trek, and the infamous Musk scene led me to adopt a personal rule of never sincerely praising a contemporary figure in script. It stakes so much of the show's credibility on an outside party, it isn't worth the risk.

I wasn't living with them but i was influenced by them.
I was actually living with a sort of family friend who turned out to be a petty conservative maniac who wanted to mould me psychologically by breaking me down and its why I'm perpetually frightened to this day but thats not a happy story
