Here's the ad Peter Mansbridge voiced for HanWha Ocean, the South Korean firm bidding to build submarines for the Canadian Navy. It's short. You and I don't get much say in Navy procurement, so who is this ad aimed at? And why does HanWha think the voice of Peter Mansbridge would be helpful?

Not defending Mr. Mansbridge here. I am chiding him for not casually sliding into his conversation with Mr. Poilievre that, "You know, I just voiced an ad campaign for one of the companies vying for this submarine contract. I can tell you how they're trying to pitch their sale."
Thought experiment. If Peter Mansbridge were still CBC National news anchor it would be unthinkable that he might voice an ad for any company. But if, as anchor, he had interviewed a politician about a company, and that company bought an ad on The National, the CBC would have been fine with that.

Could well be, but we don't know that. Since this is the first time Pew Research has asked this question, there's no longitude with which to compare the responses. Is this self-hatred in the States relatively new, or did Americans feel this way about one another during the Red Scare and HUAC?
