bright day - the hedgehog wakened from hibernation by the smell of spring Hedgehog in spring is a watercolour painting in landscape format hand-painted by the artist Karen Kaspar. A small hedgehog with brown spines sits in bright green grass against a calm blue sky. He curiously stretches his nose into the air and sniffs the fresh spring air. He seems to be smiling. The loose brushstrokes of the watercolour lend the scene a gentle and peaceful aura. This work, a combination of painting and haiku, is a joint project by Karen Kaspar (© art) and Marjolein Rotsteeg (© Haiku). A haiku is a traditional Japanese poetry form consisting of three lines. Here the watercolor painting was supplemented with the haiku in English.

Highland cattle portrait is a detailed pencil drawing showing a shaggy highland cattle with distinctive horns and the typical long-haired fringes above the eyes. Ladybird on four-leaf clover is a detail from the watercolor painting A lucky day painted by the artist Karen Kaspar. The original painting was painted in landscape format. Here, a section in square format was chosen. Another cut-out in portrait format is also available in my shop. Choose for yourself which format fits best in your rooms. The watercolor painting is built up of many layers of different bright fresh green tones and shows the abstracted detail of a wildflower meadow with many four-leaf clovers. On one of the clovers sits a red ladybird with black dots. Due to the strong complementary contrast between red and green, this little lucky ladybird is the focus of the picture and attracts attention. The four-leaf clovers and the ladybird are symbols of luck. I wish you that this picture brings a lot of luck and joy into your home.

I'm happy that my watercolor painting 'Ladybird on four-leaf clover' won first place in the Fine Art America contest 'Saint Patrick's Day' run by the Creative Women Group.
