All the same. I agree with you, but it was too quick after holding onto each other singing the happy hopeful friendship song to do that. Either don't have Angel participate, or space out his decision to go back.

I don't understand why so many writers think that is the only interesting thing you can do, especially when the creator has all but confirmed them to be endgame. It feels... toothless. Lacking stakes. I'm sad, ofc, but also just kinda annoyed at the way this was handled.

I'm trying very hard to be understanding but this feels... disrespectfully handled. The writing choices were indefensible here. I know it had to happen. It was always going to happen. The question was when. And this feels manufactured to draw out the time it takes them to get together.

It definitely needed to happen. I knew it would. But to happen like this was just... I feel disrespected by the writing of this conflict when many better options for presenting it exist.
This might be the thing that ends my investment bc I can't keep defending these choices.

It just feels like manufactured conflict. It could have been so much more impactful but nope, we gotta put them in more Situations. Hell I've been in an emotionally abusive situation before. I get that going back is part of the cycle. I've been there. But the way they wrote it feels like bad writing

I respect that position but I feel they mishandled the writing and are doing this solely because they have to manufacture a wedge between Husk and Angel. If there were even the slightest mental pause. A few days pass and he decides he can't trust himself. But in the immediate aftermath?

And I could handle that. But if that's the case, to GO BACK TO THE PLACE WITH THE PEOPLE DOING THAT TO YOU makes NO SENSE to me.

Yes, Angel going back to Val is a canon event that needed to happen for his development.

Exactly! I do think the moralizing (and thirsting) are both maybe going a little too far, but then it wouldn't be Hazbin without passionate discourse 😅

I feel a little weird for being SO bothered by this one and I am open to being wrong. But for me, I do think it missed the mark pretty egregiously. You've by far had the most charitable and well articulated explanation, though, and I really do respect your (and others') perspective 💙

For me, I wish they would have left out the "comedic" sound effects and faces. At least that way, yes, it is dark and not played lightly, and the joke is where it is supposed to be--on Vox finding it amusing but needing it to stop for image reasons bc he sucks, and Val not seeing it as abuse.

I really like and appreciate this perspective. I think what sours me in the execution specifically are the slapstick sound effects and exaggerated expressions. It was a really hard watch and it has gotten no easier because I think they blurred the line a little bit too much there.

I am having trouble with this one Kitti I gotta be honest. I'm a fan, obviously, and I think they fucked up the execution on this one. It was pretty tasteless and made me super uncomfortable. I'm ngl it kinda turned me off to the season and trusting they can do right by Angel and his story.
