(Most of my other novels are in third. I honestly don't feel there's a huge difference in how I write first vs third, other than the pronouns, but that may just be me and my style. I'm also fine with reading either.)

Painting of a woman in a black dress sitting at a desk with her hand covering her eyes, looking unhappy. Painting is by Marie Augustin Zwiller
When the latest book discourse is how romance in 1st person is stupid, and you've just released a romance in dual 1st person.
FWIW, one protag is a they, and I knew some readers would be resistant to reading lots of "they," and claim it was confusing. So I went with 1st person to get around that.ππ

Special elections are already proving that democracy isnβt dead. Rs just want us to believe this so we wonβt show up to vote. Itβs an old, worn out tactic that America isnβt buying anymore. Continue to encourage voter turnout. Rs wouldnβt be fighting so hard against us if they were winning.

Thank you for the warning. On International Women's Day, I see no reason to subject myself to reading that. But I definitely WILL go read some fun fiction written by a woman.

Molly Ringle,
writer and editor
I write novels of love and magic, and I edit writing by humans.
The Quicksand Theatre Company is a new book, but it's been notable how already a few of the reviews so far misgender the nonbinary protag. I'm not sure how you read 320 pages and fail to pick up on a main character's pronouns.
I have new respect for NB people and what you put up with daily.π

blue graphic with an outline of the United States. Red and white text reads: Call. National Book Banning Bill Proposed in US House of Reps. Tell your rep: Vote no on H.R. 7661.
We've had a day to pull a few things together, so here's a thread some more targeted info opposing the potential national book ban just proposed in the House of Representatives.

I'm not a coupon clipper, but: Shutterfly is one place where paying the sticker price is insane. Coupons abound for it. I just paid $117 rather than $898 by using one of their mailer coupons. They must just assume we're all going to use the coupons, thus they set the prices crazy high accordingly.

btw, you can totally read this book as a WangXian modern-with-magic AU. It might even work best that way, considering that's more or less how I thought of it when writing it. Spread this secret among the MDZS/Untamed fan crowd. π

Did you know that the bees that need saving are NOT honeybees?
Honeybees are the dairy cows of bees. People brought them over from Europe to make us honey.
The problem with honeybees, esp in resource-limited ecosystems (like hey! cities!) is that they compete with our native bees for food.

What I associate with March
Rainbows,
suspended against anchor-gray clouds
or thrown in multiples into my kitchen through the window prism
Shamrocks
and clovers
and how they are not the same thing
Orion and Sirius tiptoeing westward by the night
saying their goodbyes till autumnβ
Iβm sad to see them go, every year
Rain pounding on the roof
pasting white plum petals to the paving stones
beating upon brilliant violets but failing to bend them
Spring equinox spawning my thoughts of
Persephone breaking through turf into the sunlight
and how Hades must miss her
Light and light and more light, drawing everyone out
and though I want to stay cozy indoors,
the return of the green everywhere, all tints of it, gladdens me
And out I come too
even if alone in the rain
(especially then).
Hey, it's March.
A #poem (by me):

A digital drawing of author Maia Kobabe, a white nonbinary person with short brown hair wearing a patterned blue shirt, who scowls while holding up a copy of eir book GENDER QUEER: A MEMOIR. Maia is saying: H.R. 7661 is a national book banning bill which seeks to remove any book that "involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism" from all public schools in the US. This would ban my books, and any other book with trans themes, from public schools. PLEASE call your House Reps and say: NO ON H.R. 7661!

Q: Do I have to read the Eidolonia books in order?
A: Nope! They are stand alones. Dive in where you please!
Book covers shown for Lava Red Feather Blue, Ballad for Jasmine Town, and The Quicksand Theatre Company, all by Molly Ringle
If you're like me, you can't remember the details from one novel in a series by the time you pick up the next one. Which is why I did my utmost to make all the Eidolonia books stand-alone! Start wherever you like.
Urban fantasy, LGBTQ+, fae, witches, fictional country, no bigotry.
