I need this to happen
I have a million thoughts but I'll say this : Men's suffering is *always* treated as more important than the suffering of women.
Sexual assault survivors actually have the highest rates of PTSD in the world, but that never gives us pity or leeway.
Men on the other hand? Kid gloves.
Canada announced today it's supportive of efforts to artificially keep oil prices down. Oil prices rising is one of the only major levers creating pressure on Trump to stop the war. So, we're kinda already participating.
Environment Canada orange warning for freezing rain in Montreal
Come to Montreal, they said. It’ll be fun, they said.
Canada's TikTok battle is over as government concludes its national security review and grants necessary approval. Policy approach of banning the corporate entity while keeping the app never made any sense.

Cutting off noses to spite faces. Thank you to the Calgary Chamber of Commerce for the Injection of some common sense to this noxious debate. #ableg #abpoli #yyc #Calgary
Good job, Manitoba! Hope this catches on in more provinces
As a longtime advocate for victims of stalking, I receive an inordinate amount of emails from people in psychosis. They are convinced they're being gang stalked and often cite an AI chatbot conversation as proof.
This stuff is becoming more common and resources like this are super important.
What books did Alberta schools *actually* pull off the shelves in response to a provincial order? It took a lot of work to find out. We still don't have a complete picture. And some schools are still pulling material.
Free speech advocates say it's ban unmatched in Canadian history. #AbLeg By me.

This isn’t the point but I can’t handle how young GWB and Blair look in this photo. More evidence that I’m getting old.
I hope in my lifetime we will see the ICC charge those responsible from the US and Israel for crimes against humanity—for Iran, Gaza, Lebanon and on

What it describes is potentially criminal non-compliance, sanctions evasion, and terrorist financing. While FINTRAC can issue penalties, it's really up to law enforcement to investigate and prosecute.
So where is the RCMP on this?
I've been waiting for this article to come out for a while now. Alarming (but not surprising) allegations of Iranian sanctions evasion & terrorist financing through businesses in Toronto.
But this story gets one thing very wrong:

Sorel snow boot
This is what you wear when it’s 10 degrees in Toronto but you’re going to Montreal and they’re expecting snow there.
Though Hesgeth and Noem/Markwayne are leading the cabinet body counts for now, this effing man will eventually be responsible for many, many more deaths overall.

Years after the COVID-19 pandemic led to an increase of people working from home, public and private sector organizations are having more workers return to the office — but experts say the switch back is disproportionately negative for women.
The establishment commentariat is really doing its best to put wind behind Tory. Here’s Steve Paikin — who is a personal friend of the ex mayor — using his publicly funded platform to float the *pandemic made him do it* angle Tory trotted out when retiring

It's been a week of war in Iran. Where are we?
-The US & Israel have accumulated tactical successes. The Islamic Repubic is not on the verge of collapse, but it is much weaker.
-Again: how to translate this into sustainable strategic success is at best uncertain.

The operatic longboard singer
I know why it happens, but I’m so tired of Canadian broadcasts leaning on the “what does this mean to the price of oil” angle every time there’s a global catastrophe. Who got bombed today? What are the casualty numbers? Who is in danger and who is safe? The oil angle is just lazy.
