Yes!!!! THANK YOU!!
Yes!!!! THANK YOU!!
I think that, at least for the men here, there’s a huge impact of gender. Women spend insane amounts of time trying to avoid being angry or shrill or too flirty or bossy, etc. Most men cannot comprehend this second level of contemplation (& I’m insanely jealous).
It's all three, but there's also something else: weak, atrophied brains.
Typos are one thing but elite messages go beyond that, they show an inability to communicate beyond mere urges and feelings, and the reason they can't communicate beyond those is because they can't think through those.
I think we will be feeling the impact of DOGE for generations - from destroying the path to science for so many, obliterating irreplaceable research, and the removal of institutional knowledge. The civil service is what makes government work for the people. And now it’s on life support. Devastating.
Was distracted by a few other developments earlier this week, but I'm resharing my yearly reminder to be careful out there because "spring forward" is dangerous and makes little sense.
Data/design folks, what is your favorite visual that focuses on the human cost of violence, tragedies and disasters? The most emotionally impactful visualization? The most visually striking?
Please share! I'd like to get as many examples as possible.
For some reason (I think it was supposed to make things “walkable,” but it’s horrendous), new buildings haven’t been able to add drive thrus. It is horrific for people with disabilities, very pregnant women, and parents with little kids, IMHO). So I freaking wish. 🫠
Also, CVS pharmacy folks, y’all deserve a lot more than you get. Holy
+=£!, people are awful.
The real hell is a CVS pharmacy line near a retirement community on a Saturday morning. Grant me the strength…
Much lighter thought. Am I the only one who feels like Hilary Duff’s new album feels like what I had hoped Taylor Swift’s TLOAS was? Nostalgia & clever lyrics to describe real life. Especially for moms, long-term relationships, and approaching the middle ages (as the country goes Middle Ages).
The media and academia have an obligation to not remain neutral in the face of authoritarianism. These institutions need liberal institutions to exist in any meaningful way. Authoritarianism is an existential threat. Our devotion to "neutrality" will keep us from fighting for our own survival.
Evan nails it here. Committing to being an independent journalist is a fundamentally hopeful position that we can build something new from billionaires’ scorched earth, having no idea if it will actually work.
Health insurance is so unbelievably broken in this country. The cruelty is unreal.
Russell Vought is the central architect driving the destruction of your government. We are urging Congress to act now to protect the American people by impeaching and convicting Vought. We invite all Americans to join us by signing on to our letter to Congress.

I swear these girls are making “Stick It” but figure skating in real life. And it is glorious. ❤️
NJ lawmakers introduce the FUCK ICE Act.
The bill "permits civil action for violations of US Constitution related to immigration enforcement."
It’d be cool if the NFL did any of what it said it would about not tolerating violence against women. Playing in the NFL is a privilege and it should be revoked a lot faster.
Thanks to Cam Newton for absolutely refusing to understand how to NOT be a hateful misogynist. I look forward to his politics era. 😤
Yes! Our dogs are pretty big and clumsy and it’s a disaster when they think they see someone who might have treats (or be a kid wearing some leftovers, haha).
We have a neighbor who carries dog treats on his walk and I love it so much. Unfortunately our pups (who are pretty food-focused and never been accused of being too smart) overgeneralize and think everyone might have a surprise pocket treat for them. 🤦🏻♀️😂
Laila Edwards is a gold medalist. Absolutely fucking amazing. 🥹
Maybe it’s the I’m desperate to see joy and see the U.S. succeed, but these Olympics have felt so much more devastating and heartbreaking than any I can remember. 💔
Really wish there were more examples of what age appropriate conversations about this might look like. Just stuff people said that didn’t traumatize their kids more… I can’t believe any of us have to have them, but they feel like dancing on a knife’s edge. Thanks for nothing parenting “experts.”
And yet most Dems don’t seem to know how to replicate AOC’s formula, which is pretty much not bullshitting people and asking them to wait - she’s angry, she speaks “regular person,” and she communicates repeatedly on every platform. (And she’s not secretly a monster.) This can be replicated…
And her kiddo was adorable! Always amazed by a mom with little kids being an Olympian… whole other level of hell you’re body has experienced…
That’s true. And we have access to a lot more amazing independent journalism!
How many winter Olympians would be left if anyone who had a parent or grandparent who was an Olympian competed separately? It just seems like such an insane unfairness in nature AND nurture…
Maybe I’m the minority, but I LOVE that they’re legalized again! And I remember watching Surya as a kid and she was my favorite because she just seemed so punk rock badass!
Yes and they seemed pretty determined to be tools and remind us that they’re not trustworthy. 😤
That’s amazing - thank you! I will definitely look into this and cheer for this athlete!
