It’s hard enough to mandate human working conditions for farmworkers in heat and smoke, such as water breaks, shade, protection from smoke inhalation, or work stoppages due to hazardous conditions.
ENFORCING those mandates is an entirely separate uphill struggle!

This is such a horrifying and scary tragedy.
This rhetoric, enslaved people learned skills that contributed to their betterment, is a big part of prison "reform" on the right and left. While they're in jail they've gone to school, learned skills, etc. as if they could not have done those things without being incarcerated or enslaved.
