I transitioned from photography to sketching last year, then to painting this year. Progress dump of painting sketch book from the last couple of weeks. Painting the same frame over and over as an exercise seems to be working for me.
I’ve seen this exhibit in person; it is incredible and overwhelming. Each piece is over 10 feet tall, and the lighting for the de Young exhibit makes them appear backlit. Here’s a photo that provides the needed scale for these works.
