We initially designed the protected cycle infrastructure to include the RBKC side of Bayswater Road. Not surprising but nonetheless a depressing reply came back: "Stepped tracks and bus stop by-passes are just not something that is supported in RBKC currently."

We are in a genitocracy. Tax cuts and free healthcare and welfare (in the form of pensions) for old people.
No incentives for young people. We can’t afford homes which are horded by the old. We are mercilessly taxed to pay for their lives. This is just another stealth tax on the young.

Amsterdam, Paris, London, Seville and many other cities show this is not true. Motoring infrastructure is what undermines public transport by making buses slower, ripping up trams, and taking funds away from public transport schemes for road building & maintenance, and traffic enforcement.
The strategic road network is managed by a charity and relies on the goodwill of land owners for access. Some motorways will be muddy and flooded each winter.

I’m surprised there hasn’t been a test case yet by Cycle UK or similar. I would seriously consider perusing it if I was ever knocked off in a recently (post study publication date) implemented “cycle lane”.
If something happened to a cyclist, I believe this could be challenged in court as a breach of the council’s duty not to implement road layouts they know to be dangerous, given there is peer-reviewed evidence to show such lanes are more dangerous than nothing.

This is the same town the ripped out a cycle lane on the seafront because some people thought allowing people to sit in their cars and look at the sea was more important. They are the authors of thier own demise by clinging onto car centrism at all costs.
In the past month 3 transport routes have collapsed - but they aren't roads so don't make national news. All 3 have the same root causes, climate change, and Tory austerity passing responsibility for critical infrastructure on to charities and councils. This will happen more, and people will be hurt

Congestion costs £7.5bn a year and c.£17bn is needed to fix the worn out road network. In the last 30 years, the UK population has grown by 19%, but the number of cars has exploded by 56%. Outside of London, 81% of British households own at least one car!

If this was a road for drivers there wouldn't even be a discussion. They would be working on a replacement right now. Because it's used by pedestrians and cyclists then oh no, it's too expensive. Active travel means second-class citizens.

Great example of motornormativity on Cycleway 4 in Deptford – one of London's key cycle routes.
Non-existent motor traffic gets a default green while cyclists (& probs pedestrians) have to wait ~1 min for the lights to change. We can do better!
