Exclusive: Foreign hacker in 2023 compromised Epstein files held by FBI, source and documents show The hack occurred after a server at the Child Exploitation Forensic Lab in the FBI’s New York Field Office was inadvertently left vulnerable by a special agent.

When the hacker expressed disgust at the child abuse images on the server and threatened to report them to the FBI, agents had to get into a video chat with the hacker to convince him they WERE the FBI.

We continue to live in the stupidest possible timeline.

A New Spy Radio Signal Has Appeared. It's Broadcasting in Farsi. A new shortwave numbers station appeared the day the bombs fell. Nobody knows who's running it.

Numbers stations are back! Um. open.substack.com/pub/theicema...

Caitlin KALINOWSKI over X

I resigned from OpenAl. I care deeply about the Robotics team and the work we built together.
This wasn't an easy call. Al has an important role in national security. But surveillance of Americans without judicial oversight and lethal autonomy without human authorization are lines that deserved more deliberation than they got. This was about principle, not people. I have deep respect for Sam and the team, and I'm proud of what we built together.

Part of the reason "Breaking Bad" is one of the greatest TV shows of all time is that its central thesis, which feels true, is that there is a monster inside all human beings, and given the chance to come out, it will, indeed, come out.

Anyway, here's an article about a Let the Monster Out Factory.

I don't think it's ID verification fwiw it's just a checkbox asking if you're over 18 or 13

which makes it entirely pointless anyway lol but I think it passed so lawmakers can say they did "something" without doing ID verification

If you ever want to read a paper for free and can't find it otherwise, email the lead author and politely ask for a copy. You will not be bothering the person. You will in fact make their whole entire day. I have had scientists get so excited I asked they sent me everything they ever published.

Per The Economist/YouGov, half of Americans support ABOLISHING ICE.

Literally, "abolishing."

I'm not going to say Harper is singlehandedly responsible for Trump's victory, but this *is* the phenomenon that resulted in so many Americans having no idea what they voted for.

Across mainstream media, pundits refused to draw a clear distinction between Ds & Rs and lay out Trump's agenda.

Sam Altman tweet:

Tonight, we reached an agreement with the Department of War to deploy our models in their classified network.

In all of our interactions, the DoW displayed a deep respect for safety and a desire to partner to achieve the best possible outcome.

AI safety and wide distribution of benefits are the core of our mission. Two of our most important safety principles are prohibitions on domestic mass surveillance and human responsibility for the use of force, including for autonomous weapon systems. The DoW agrees with these principles, reflects them in law and policy, and we put them into our agreement.

We also will build technical safeguards to ensure our models behave as they should, which the DoW also wanted. We will deploy FDEs to help with our models and to ensure their safety, we will deploy on cloud networks only.

We are asking the DoW to offer these same terms to all AI companies, which in our opinion we think everyone should be willing to accept. We have expressed our strong desire to see things de-escalate away from legal and governmental actions and towards reasonable agreements.

We remain committed to serve all of humanity as best we can. The world is a complicated, messy, and sometimes dangerous place.
