Minnesotans are facing an unprecedented housing affordability crisis at the same time as the federal government occupied and terrorized our communities.
This emergency rent assistance bill ensures our neighbors—families, seniors, and children—have the stability they need to stay in their homes.
Senate Republicans just tried to cut rent assistance from families if ANYONE in their household was even charged with a crime. Children need a roof over their head and shouldn't be punished for the actions of adults.
Minnesota families are facing a housing affordability crisis. Rent and housing costs have reached historic highs, while the cost of things like food, gas, and healthcare keep climbing. And the federal government is to blame.
Senator Port (DFL-Burnsville) is the author of this bill and has given her opening remarks on the floor. Here's a clip:
