Well that went down a treat. Churchwarden and vicar came up trumps with the missing items. The chorister loved the dressing up and the small congregation joined in the memory game with great enthusiasm.

Tomorrow evening's all-age talk finally committed to paper. It's the Armour of God, so I shall get a chorister dressing up, with the focus being on remembering the 6 items & what they represent. A certain amount of improvisation involving a frying pan lid & a cycle helmet: still looking for a sword.

Listening or playing Mendelssohn - specifically (playing) the final movement of the 4th organ sonata or (listening, or playing with the cellist) the 1st movement of the second cello sonata. Possibly a bit niche, but both these pieces of music lift my mood one notch from wherever it was. 1/2

I often do this now with learning long and difficult pieces of music. I can't remember who suggested it, but it means that when you've finished practising for the day you can always play to the end.

We have the builders in. 3rd week of a 2 week job. No kitchen. The trouble with eating out is that I can't get on with my knitting while waiting for the Beloved to finish eating. (He's *very* slow, but then again, I am grateful that eating out is an option again.)

@chilternrailway.bsky.social why have I been issued with an ยฃ85 fine for parking at Haddenham & Thame Parkway when I paid for my parking when I purchased my ticket? Registration on the purchased parking ticket is the same as on the charge notice, so it's not an error on my part. 11th Feb.

Actually, it just shouldn't take 12 weeks to get a blue badge. If you need it, you need it straight away.

I think perhaps once you're in the system for cancer care everything is amazing. Macmillan nurses were *so* helpful. (BTW he's currently cancer free, but left with the damaged cerebellum.)

The palliative care nurse applied for the Beloved's blue badge and it came within days. When it ran out, we mentioned it to the consultant and the Macmillan nurse sorted the replacement. Can you get a medical professional to help?

The Beloved has just demolished his share of a Chinese takeaway. Yes, slower than me - but *nowhere near as slow as last time we had one* (probably Valentine's Day 2025). Small steps. ๐

I think this probably boils down to the fact that Cambridge doesn't have the same sort of centralised admissions system that Oxford has. There are lots of inconsistencies between colleges for some courses.

or St John's - one of my colleagues is checking furiously! I have to go to a church meeting. Looking forward to finding out where we've got to when I get back. This shouldn't be how it works. Oxford had a single really clear announcement about their changes, very carefully timed.

I wonder if they think this will encourage more students to apply to Cambridge to read maths? And more disadvantaged students? I am utterly baffled...

Ok, the Christ's website says the TMUA is now needed, but the Cambridge site doesn't. What the ... ?

To be fair, lots of Cambridge applicants will be taking TMUA anyway, because they've got Warwick or Imperial or Durham as their second choice. But I still think it's an admin error.

And I'm speaking at a conference tomorrow on Admissions Assessments! Aaargh! Will have to waste time on the train checking websites at the last minute. It has to be wrong, but why wasn't it checked?

I've just checked the Cambridge website and it's clear that the TMUA is *not* required for maths. If Christ's are requiring it as well as STEP I suggest choose another college. But I think this is an admin person getting it wrong.

I'm 99% certain this is incorrect info from Christ's. The UAT-UK website says Cambridge only requires TMUA for Computer Science and for Economics. Don't take my word for it, but do double check as I'm sure they're wrong.
