"Unlocking" they call it.
I'm watching this. I knew about the problem but this really drives it home. Spread the word. Nationalize the water companies. Demand accountability for the executives, regulators and politicians who let this happen - for profit.
Then look at where else this ling of corruption is happening.
A must watch for anyone thinking of going in the water.
Has the US talked about Democratic elections for Iran even once?
meanwhile
The show "Dirty Business" drives home what the water companies did.
Picture of Kathy Burke with a quote from her Bluesky account: "Dirty Business on C4 was absolutely brilliant and f*****g terrifying. It's imperative we re-nationalise our water companies otherwise the greedy b*****s will kill us all."
English National Treasure says what!
If you agree with Kathy Burke, sign our petition. Bring Thames Water into public ownership. Then we can work on the rest.

"If you tax them they'll leave"
You're talking about people so selfish and anti-community that they will pack up their life to get away from democracy -- just to save a small fraction of their massive hoard.
Also BTW to keep society from sharing the benefits of the prosperity democracy provides.
Good news is another long-term beneficiary of this will be renewable energy sources.
There is no longer any excuse to continue to depend on oil when wind, solar, EVs etc are so readily available now. This is not like the 1970s OPEC embargo.
There is a religious dimension to the way that some MAGA fanatics are framing the US-Israeli war against Iran that bodes ill for Europe, raising the risk that it inflames the Trump administrationβs βcivilisationalβ war against the continent. My latest on the Ayatollah of the West
After bombing Iran's oil infrastructure.
Yep, in addition to this. β¬οΈ
Bessent says the Trump admin may now lift sanctions on even more Russian oil to try and reduce oil prices during Trumpβs war. This would provide a massive injection of cash to fund Putinβs war machine.
Am I correct that bombing Iran's oil facilities benefits Russia long-term?
Iran doesn't have pipelines to move oil so can be stopped from selling oil by blocking ships. This blocks sales long-term.
Meanwhile Russia benefits now and long-term as oil prices zoom up.
Use of language that conveys to voters that immigrants are a threat creates a fear response that drives them into the arms of the far right - no matter the policies being proposed.
The language in this op-ed is almost textbook designed to drive voters toward Farage, Reform and Tommy Robinson.

She sounds good!
Thank you.
This kind of reporting is intended to make people hate "the other" and support fascists. You don't see this unless it was an immigrant

PS I grew up being called a "kike." So this stuff is real to me. Being called a Nazi in comments here is pretty bad and says a lot about how politics works now. I just think it's worth looking a bit deeper before writing someone off. Remember Bernie supporters being called racist.
I can accept Mills. But I think his growth story is real.
Have you heard HIM talk about personal growth over these things. Many people in Maine have turned around on this and come to support his candidacy.

This is a real video from the official White House account on a war that is currently killing people. I donβt know how the US is going to come back from this.

Sorry, I missed this earlier.
They can't fathom it happening here, even when the process is unfolding before their very eyes.
This. I can't tell you how many conversations I've had since coming here like this: "This feels like America just a few years ago" only to be met with "but we have better education etc." Okay, barely, and you actually are among the most jaded and apathetic in the world, right alongside the U.S.
I have to wonder if people who talk about this have heard a few comprehensive interviews with him talking about it, about personal growth and about why he's running. I had the same reactions at first and now I think he will be a great progressive senator. Apparently so do a lot of people in Maine.
An important point. "Immigration" is not about immigration. It is entirely about race. When they say "illegals" etc they mean non-white people.
It is racial fear. It is stoked and used.
It can't be fought without understanding this.
