As horrific as war is those who survive at have new perspectives civilians can't imagine.

Artist: pen, ink, oil, acrylic, wire, the dreaded AI. Dabbler in music generation, D&D, nerd stuff, irrational rationalist, left leaning centrist, no position is inviolable. All ideas should be challenged, especially bad ones.
As horrific as war is those who survive at have new perspectives civilians can't imagine.
and a lot of cultural expression is made in defiance of said military actions across the world. Or in support or to survive the struggles of war.
Tolkien's work might not have been so great had he not served in the trenches of WW1.
realist here: lots of medical and scientific discoveries are byproducts of military developments.
it is beginning!
I'm not too into anime, but from the outside looking in? It looks like the space is still alive with new ideas. You naturally have more freedom with anime, but it'll be a dark day when even that space abandons originality.
In the past 20 years the biggest productions have been timeline recycles, prequels, sequels, and remakes, and remasters in the entertainment industry, same with the videogame industry.
Where are the new 'verses? The tried with Rebel Moon. It was a valiant effort but it did not catch on.
Whatever causes the price to increase on a dying or stagnant industry. Oil was dirt cheap. now it's 116 a barrel.
You should be thankful then that there are only 15% of us with passports then.
America makes it impossible to absentee vote. I registered the day it opened, and just never got a ballot. If you work out of state or overseas. Good fuckin' luck trying to cast your ballot.
She's talkin' like this is a new thing having to talk about the bullshit America does to the world.
No shit sherlock the middle east...where the world gets most of their oil is on fire again.
no no no why make art when you can microwave the same thing?
Also electrocuting his dog? no.
Side note. Hasanabi, is a garbage human being. Supporting terrorism is just...unconscionable.
the most common gender affirming surgery performed on underage boys is gynecomastia, man-boobs. 97% of the surgeries. The number hormone blocker in children 0-12? Zero. Non-existence. Zilch.
I don't get the Rep. issues with trans anything, they've made a mountain out of an inverted molehill. Like gender affirming care on children for hormone blockers in children 13-17 out of millions is .1%. But they've made it out to be this huge conspiracy where they giving sex changes to everyone
I'll give Frakes and whoever wrote Episode 9 for Starfleet Acedemy. It was by far the stongest most put together turd in this deluge of diarrhea. It was still shit...but it was the most structurally sound excretion so far. More like "Oh shit the season's almost over we need to tell a story......."
Well it'll be dead after the 2nd season which is pretaped. Which is a problem. They'll not have learned any lessons from season 1's reaction. Like TNG and DS9 and a ROUGH start, but they learned to navigate their mistakes and make course corrections. SA:S2 will be unable to do it.
I really am confused how people can enjoy the show. Everyone's so shallow and self involved, and Starfleet is not a good organization at this point in the timeline. WHY TF do they have mines that can destroy subspace and entire planets? And why are they this completely incompetent. Go Nus Brukka!
SA is a story that crawls forward mired in meaningless exposition whole episoded dedicated to character growth that is immediately forgotten about either within the same episode or by the next episode. Darem coulda been great but he's a punching bag at this point.
1/3 of the episodes actually move the plot forward. the rest is filler. It's a problem with modern series. DS9 got 25 episodes at 45 minutes. Starfeet Academy gets 10 at 1h15m each. Now DS9 was plot driven with a few stop gaps but it moved forward consistently.
Ake should be over having feelings of drastic actions after centuries of life with other organics who only live a fraction of her lifespan. She'd be numb to it, on the assumption that she learns anything from her longevity. I am not very old but I have my emotions reined in from experience with them
organic lifeforms. As illustrated that she has whole conversations actions in a fraction of a second. Couldn't she have dealt with assailants with her OP abilities of teleporting anywhere, choosing to be incorporeal at a whim and thinking fast. But she just gets tied up with the other kids.
Storing that astronomical number of mines in a single facility, but it took 6 months to figure out what they stole. Is just, I mean every episode is another disppointment in logic from a show that's supposed to be intelligent and logical.
Also Sam can teleport herself and think factors faster than
It took 6 months for Starfleet to find out what Giamattie stole from the super secret base with 1 ship protecting it. Then laid mines in 3 dimensional space around a few dozen star systems while forgetting how big space is. You'd need quintillions of mines to cover the area...
the plot holes have plot holes.
Not 1000 or even 100 years from now. Some marine biologists say the scale's tipped, can't recover. We're just waiting for the ocean's ecological collapse and the cascade that will follow it. But that will take generations to realize and in Earth terms? Most people are unbothered "not my problem"
America is a consumer economy. A lot of other country's GDPs rely on America consuming their imports. To overcome a country's economic stability to punish a necessary evil that sustains them would be DIRE cicumstances. And humanity only really changes course in the face of direct annihilation.
Article 52 & 54 of the Geneva convention clearly states that targeting infrastructure like water systems and ignoring the potential collateral of bombing lawful military targets like an oil refinery that happens to be in the middle of a civilian center, is a war crime.
if AI studies our history this is the only result, we aren't great role models.
