Great Calva in the northern fells of the Lake District. A modest peak but one that stands out once beyond Skiddaw and Blencathra. Here seen in its full winter coat at the start of 2025.

Up on the summit of Lonscale Fell yesterday afternoon as the light faded on a cold but still day in the northern Lake District. Skiddaw and Skiddaw Little Man sit in the distance.

Latrigg, in the northern fells of the Lake District at dusk, as sheep graze while a hiker heads back to Keswick. Blease Fell (Blencathra) stands out in the distance.

Atkinson's Monument close to the summit of Caudale Moor in the Far Eastern Fells in the Lake District on a cold, crips winter dawn. Red Screes sits in the distance to the right of the frame.

Looking forward to spring evenings like this. Out fell running with a small camera in the quieter fells of the northern Lake District such as Bowscale (as seen here, with Blencathra in the distance). Anyone wants to join for such runs soon, just drop me a line!

Climbers on Napes Needle (Great Gable) making their way up to the summit on this classic of Lake District rock climbing. Moody morning with the mist . Had to do a spot of light scrambling up through the crags to get this shot, but certainly worth it.

Indeed, pretty nippy up the Rossett Ghyll path, up to Allen Crags, back to Angle Tarn, then looped around to pick up the Stake Pass back down into Langdale. Microspikes very much needed above 400 metres. Tad slippy!

Three hikers heading down from Esk Hause, towards Angle Tarn and Rossett Pike as the light began to fade yesterday afternoon over a wonderfully snowy Lake District. Shot on a hike up to Allen Crags from Langdale.

Blissful morning views back in January, up on High Pike near Ambleside. Soft morning light and deep snows following a 6am start from the house was certainly worth it. Little Hart Crag sits in the distance (OM-5 + 8-25mm f/4 Pro)

Certainly one of the finest climbing spots in the Lake District, Gimmer Crag on the southern face of Loft Crag in the Langdale Valley. Trad team here working their way up the middle sections of the route. You'd be hard pushed to find a better belay ledge than this #lakedistrict #cumbria #landscape

Dusk setting over the southern fells of Brim Fell, Coniston Old Man, and Dow Crag in late summer of 2024. Shot from the upper slopes of Grey Friar. Head torch and run back down to Coniston village was a fun end to this outing.

Looking to Great Moss in Eskdale on an overcast day. Taken from Scar Lathing with Pen, Scafell Pike, Mickleden, Broadstand, and Scafell standing out. One of the finest views of the Scafells? Probably.

One from earlier this year up on Blencathra on the way along Halls Fell - the finest route up to any summit without a rope? Perhaps! Always looks far better with its lakeland winter coat on.

Pretty much as nippy as the Lakes get - the summit of Helvellyn with winter doing its thing. About -20 as two hikers take a moment at the summit shelter before heading off into the thick clouds. Not a place to linger for too long but it was pretty hard to resist this shot.

Shot today from a blast up to Lingmoor Fell to grab some shots I needed for the new edition of Cicerone's Great Mountain Days. I have plenty of snowy images of this modest fell in the Lake District, but it was nice to collect one with late summer heather #lakedistrict #hiking #landscape #omsystem

Shot from yesterday evening's shoot to Mellbreak in the Western Fells of the Lake District yesterday. Mellbreak is always tough to shoot late in the day, at least for me, but certainly felt that this perspective with St. Bartholomew's Church in Loweswater worked well. #lakedistrict #cumbria #hiking
