Great times. That pic of the chaos (small 'C') on the landing is amazing!

I had an absolute blast at the 2nd Heads event organised by Ed from Minisodes at the weekend. A couple of games of 2nd edition (including a huge 3000pt a side one where we managed to get all my Chaos horde out), a game of Space Crusade, and a great time with like minded folk!
Thanks for playing. It helps me justify my extravagant ebay purchases! ๐
I do love the fact that we can just 3D print that sort of thing nowadays but it does feel a bit like cheating not building it out of toilet rolls and deodorant bottles...
Thanks and yeah, I know what you mean. I played two games of second edition over the weekend and it was impossible to take a bad photo with the terrain and minis we had.

Do it! I try not to wallow in nostalgia _too_ much and I do genuinely enjoy 10th edition but it was a wonderfully refreshing change from the norm.
@beardypaulh.bsky.social , it was apparently from the TTCombat Chroma range originally. Ed from the Minisodes channel rebased and repainted it in the classic style for those iconic results!

I would heartily recommend it - small but very relaxed and friendly.
Thanks! It was an opportunity I couldn't pass up!
A lovely low-key event called 'Second 'eds' in Bristol organised by Ed from the Minisodes YouTube channel:

Thanks! That army has been on the go since 1996 so it seemed only appropriate!
Off the top of my head no, but I can likely find out. Most of the rest of the terrain we used was 3D prints from @doctorspork.bsky.social who does make a lovely version of this cathedral too.
(This terrain piece is apparently an MDF kit based on the classic ruined shrine from the 90s WD era but it 100% looks the part)

So one of the coolest thing about the Second 'Eds event was the chance to set up some army pics on 'proper' era-appropriate terrain. These pics were kindly taken for me with a real camera and everything!

St. Helena is nice this time of year.
Ring just judging you all passive aggressive like.
Pity them. They'll never know the delight of trying to work out if you find Hexadecimal terrifying or strangely attractive.
Space Crusade -tends- to be a more sedate experience given it was aimed more at kids back in the day. It does depend a lot on how vicious your GM is. It's always tempting to hide the dreadnought blip somewhere sneaky...
It was a pretty epic weekend.
I played it on the Amstrad myself. I remember pouring over the isometric view and being stunned when I played the level where the ship hull is breached and it starts filling with vacuum.
Isn't it just? There's a strong 2000AD vibe about the artwork too - I never did find out who the artist was but I wouldn't be surprised if it was some great from the history of British comics.
Battle Masters was The One That Got Away for me. I've managed a few games of the modern Hero Quest and it's as good as ever but Space Crusade is just the right level of complexity for a chilled out evening.
...Space Crusade (in case you didn't know). Basically the first taste of Warhammer 40,000 that many of us Ancients ever had.

In between games of 40k Second Edition at the weekend (see previous post) I managed to corral some folks into playing an even older game...
That pretty much tallies with my current experience with Mint (I'm about six weeks into a similar switchover). Might have to try Cachy at some point. Or Pop!_OS. Or Bazzite. Or...
Oooh.
Good luck with all that. Glad to hear you got out okay.
Ooh yes. Terminators are (well were in the older fluff, certainly) the best armour short of being a dreadnought and have the added bonus of not needing to be nearly dead to use it. ๐
Because I like Invisible War. ๐
It's not in the same league as the original, obviously, but I still like it.
