Sometimes, I take a moment to revel in a clever turn of phrase or a gut-busting funny bit of dialog, then self-doubt overwhelms me when I ponder why it doesn't happen more often.
Reminds me of starting a new job with Mandatory Sexual Harrassment Training.
An image showing the colorful covers of my nine Noelani Lee mystery novels on a backdrop of lush green palm leaves with a black background. If that don't make you wanna read them, then I don't know what will.

Please keep me in mind for the sequel.
Aural foreplay.
I've read books critics fell over themselves praising but which I found middling to pretty good at best. There is a high level of groupthink at work in literary criticism, which is to the detriment of criticism as a whole.
My novel CHOKEVILLE is now available as an ebook and audiobook. Itβs basically flawless. If youβre looking for a wild adventure to take your mind off the stupid real world then look no further, chum!!

Went to my local pharmacy last night, had a brain fart and left my debit card on a counter. I went back fifteen minutes later and it was still there, untouched.
Then it hit me -- apparently, my money's not even worth the effort for your average thief.
I'm gonna ask my orthopedist about this when I see him later this month, as in, "Give me one good reason why I can't wear shoes three sizes too large like Widdle Marco does so I can look like a big boy, too."
Congrats to the Italians on beating the US in the World Baseball Classic. Here's a nighttime photo of Barberino Val d'Elsa in Tuscany, taken in October 2019.
Self-relegating.
I gotta start paying attention to the never-ending corporate name changes on stadiums because for the life of me I read something about a place called Daikin Park and when I looked it up I was like, wait, wasn't that Enron Field and then Astros Field and then Minute Maid Park?
I'm a lifelong Orioles fan.
I love Gunnar Henderson.
He's one of my favorote players.

Forget the Marquess of Queensberry; there are no rules in bar fights.
Also apropos:
Long-time buddies Perry Smith and Dick Hickok were out for a pleasant drive in Kansas when, all of a sudden, their lives would change.
Your anticipated outcome in a bar fight is the sum of your opponent's level of inebriation minus your level of inebriation. Positive sums = you have a decent chance of winning; negative sums = I hope you brought friends.
I read an article on Slate about BookTokkers (sp?) preference for first-person narratives, esp. in the romance genre -- to the point they summarily dismiss third- and second-person. This made me wonder, who else out there has a POV preference? Is a particular POV a deal-breaker for you?
Good point.
Well, in all fairness, he DID tell his advertisers to go fuck themselves in the face, sooooo...
Image of a black baseball cap for The Netherlands' team in the World Baseball Classic, with the country's flag embroidered on one side and big, glorious orange crown on the front. This, my friends, is how you do baseball caps in a country where baseball is an afterthought.
One man's dopey opinion: Netherlands has the best caps of all the teams in the World Baseball Classic.
In search of "something new," we gave ABC's RJ Decker a try. We were looking forward to it, but sadly, it's derivative on innumerable levels -- divorced ex-con PI living in a dingy mobile home and countless Florida Man references.
tl;dr Read Carl Hiaasen's "Double Whammy" (source IP) instead.
