We're shifting to AGPLV3, just tackling last bugs so we can put Glance in dalamud open repo. Character IDs aren't account IDs; we only save them so name changes don't break verification (to protect from spoofing). Legal shifts in 2026 are moving fast, unfortunately legal scare is becoming reality

rphub is a fucking godsend dude. apparently they're adding a spot on the site specifically for RP FC recruitment, which has been one of my biggest bugbears for such a long time in the ffxiv community. i really hope it ends up being utilized bc we desperately need a localized place for them.
You can definitely play inspired characters or use custom mods! The main thing is that FFXIV stays the medium and setting. As long as your screenshots or art feel like they belong in Eorzea, youre good. We just draw the line at content that doesn't fit the game's universe to keep things focused.

It's clunky, but it's getting there. Settings offer a bit more control, I just want it to be less in the face. My game is already 90% plugin and 10 % ffxiv 🫠

Waking up to see my character on the featured page on RPhub really really made my entire week...Hes been a character that Ive wanted to show more love too recently and this was really the push I needed to bring him more to life.
This is exact problem I had with other directories, but our featured characters are hand-picked to counter-act the popularity contests. There's no sorting by likes, or comments. Venue promotion is a good idea.
RPhub isn't for everyone, and that’s okay. If I built it just for myself, the layout would be hyper-specific to my tastes. Instead, I'm prioritizing a clean, accessible design that works for the majority of the RP community.
RPhub can't replace creativity it takes to build a carrd. It was built so you don't need website builder skills in order to have a pretty place for your OC. It shifts the burden to the site's design and experience, and aims to improve walk-up scene in FFXIV by enabling community and connections.
This is a valid concern. I do hope myself it will not be the case, seeing people without carrds getting RP without problem. Its only purpose is to streamline, not gatekeep.
Btw, non RPers with profiles are welcome too, I plan to introduce separate mechanisms to tell if someone is actively RPing.

I can't risk legal battles especially since this is my hobby project and it remains revenue-less. And I can't be arsed by the lawmakers creating laws for multibillion dollar companies that knock hobby projects like this off the market.
Especially if someone forgot to mark content NSFW and the entire ul'dah (including minors) saw their pecker. For reference, light handles it better because its built around consent based pairing unlike Glance that just takes from everybody.
Age gating is additional liability I am not willing to take on at the moment
Also Square Enix's recent wave of C&Ds and legal threats against plugins puts the whole project at risk of a shutdown.
Local (NC) PAVE Act enforces any website with nsfw content above 33.3% to enforce ID verification. Not only the document is vague asf. Its also a danger to user's privacy. It puts me in charge on monitoring the data that is on my servers acting in good faith. Whatever that is.

It's very strict. Buy I had to add it with how viral the plugin got, so I got less erp clutter to deal with alone later. I'm working on bringing it to FFXIV's policy level (16+). Bear with me 🥀
