3/13 UPDATE: I'm told that the last day for AJC reporters who were laid off has passed. Among them was Ariel Hart, who reports on healthcare policy, continuing a trend of women/ POCs laid off.
Yes, the paper of record in the city where the CDC has its headquarters no longer has a health reporter.

Huh. So it's unclear who's funding this campaign to pay influencers to attack Kat Abughazaleh.
But the guy coordinating also has a company called Advocators AI, which just won an award for work forβ¦Daniel Biss β her opponent.
One of the campaigns the company boasts about promotes trips to Israel.

Obvious attack on the First Amendment, and also--importantly--an attack on the second amendment
One asshole did a stupid thing, and the completely legal firearms owned by other protesters became evidence of domestic terrorism

Elon Musk's X Rots Your Brain
Data indicates that Elon Musk's X algorithms indisputably drive users into right wing propaganda rabbit holes from which they may not be able to untether themselves.
this is a radical position but I believe that if you are a person of integrity you should not be using far right wing propaganda websites owned by sociopaths

For like one week after MBS was announced not only as a Group Stage location, but for the semi finals as well? I thought MARTA was going to get the kind of I-85 Rebuild treatment in the run up to the World Cup. What an absurd thought that was

The kicker here is π€.
When pressed as to why he, a 20-something with no experience in scholarly peer review or grant making, is qualified to summarily cancel fed gov't "DEI" contracts, he says a person who reads books & has life experience knows enough.
Oh really, which books?
"There were no books."

I emailed some questions to Marchese, and he answered (I'll paste them in next). I won't quote him because I hadn't told him I'm a journalist, but suffice to say that he doubled down on this idea that liberals are to blame for fascism. They all think like that, because they are in a cult.

Someone looking at a gravestone says "I miss you dad. I wish I got more time with you."
The ground around the grave begins to shift. "Oh my god" says the speaker.
A hand emerges from the dirt.
A thin, bald man with a long protuberance of a nose, soaking wet, pulls himself from the dirt proclaiming "why yes, it is I, Wet Nude Steve. You've caught me while I've been out tunneling around, experiencing worm pleasures. One of my naughtiest indulgences.
Perhaps you would like to explore with me?"
I Miss You Dad

Does The New York Times Want to Eradicate Trans People? β Assigned
An analysis of its coverage reveals a pattern of misrepresentations, deceptions, distortions, the exclusion of trans voices, and the endorsement of contempt.
The New York Times coverage of trans issues has repeatedly resulted in experts and others complaining that their words were twisted and misrepresented... but only those quoted from on trans supportive side have that complaint.
Coincidence or eliminationism? @billiejsweeney.bsky.social dives in.

Dancer's rebuttal to Magic City cancellation, Luke Kornet, and NBA moralizing: 'It's a slap in the face" | Sporting News
NatsHoney gives her dancer's perspective on the Magic City-Hawks controversy.
Everyone seems to have voiced their opinion on the Hawks' Magic City Night. Nobody bothered to invite the women in the industry into the discussion.
Here's my Q&A with NatsHoney, the president of Strippers United, who shared a much-needed perspective:

4 pages from the Challengers of the Unknown 1991 limited series: on the first 2 pages, three panels lead to a massive explosion on a mountain. at the bottom, there is a sequence of a robot walking forward, which has been running the entire issue, like a time bomb. on the next two, the explosion ripples like it's tearing into the page itself, as if it was glass, creating dozens of fractured panels, spiraling out in immense white space
on a whim i decided to check out the 1991 Challengers of the Unknown limited series and i gotta say, tim sale does some of his best panelling work ever in this little forgotten title.
