Exactly right. Wanted to add that her husband's department is set to get almost $11 million from the 1/2-cent Public Mass Transportation sales tax, with almost $8 mil for road resurfacing and another $1 million for streetlights.

Amendments need to be submitted by March 12th, with budget adoption by March 26th.

More funding for bus service, Vision Zero, and bike share are my priorities, as well as demanding that the PMT sales tax be used to benefit bus riders, not motorists.
The proposed KCMO budget would give ~$8.85 million out of the 1/2-cent Public Mass Transportation sales tax to Public Works for non-Vision Zero projects, money that could be going to KCATA-operated public mass transportation services instead!

Missouri updates its transit policies every year to make sure it is meeting guidelines for federal and state grant funding. This year, Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe cut state funding for public transit almost in half.
The Chiefs moving to Kansas is such a rotten little move. Worthy of shame and nothing else. But I congratulate the Missouri taxpayers who don't really have to go that much farther for games *and* don't have to subsidize Clark Hunt's lifestyle

Kansas City will provide more than $13.3 million in additional funding to cover buses and the city’s rideshare service, IRIS. This is the second installment of funding the city and the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority agreed to in a contract they signed in August.
We would be in a much worse spot right now if there weren't widespread public support and organizing for keeping our buses fully-funded last spring!

This amendment was introduced by Parks-Shaw, who didn't want to use the Violence and Prevention fund to offset KCATA security costs.
KCMO stripped $2.6mil of funding set to go to KCATA to retain bus service this fiscal year, setting the stage for more cuts on Feb 1st. Bunch and Rea voted no on this amendment, Robinson voted no on the ordinance as amended. Fml

Inc 2 routes cut completely, and 13 will stop early morning (<6am) and late night (>11pm) service.
KCATA suggested cuts to bus service today after KCMO staff and city council fell $3mil short to pay for our existing service this fiscal year. (All to save IRIS, b/c fuck bus riders, let's give money to private corps)
