A top sign of car brain is refusing to let a 14-year-old ride transit alone but allowing a 16-year-old to drive a car. The perception of risk is completely misaligned with actual data.

Two undeniable truths: 1) violent crime on transit is very rare and 2) teenagers are horrible drivers.

Luke can't say this, but I can: City Council needs to hear from you. Councilwoman Patterson Hazley was particularly antagonistic, said she doesn't believe parking impacts affordability.

Parks-Shaw and Willett also sit on the committee that must advance to full council.

Exactly right. Wanted to add that her husband's department is set to get almost $11 million from the 1/2-cent Public Mass Transportation sales tax, with almost $8 mil for road resurfacing and another $1 million for streetlights.

KCMO Public Budget Hearing tonight!

Join your neighbors to testify, these events aren't well attended, but make a huge impact!

More funding for bus service, Vision Zero, and bike share are my priorities, as well as demanding that the PMT sales tax be used to benefit bus riders, not motorists.

The proposed KCMO budget would give ~$8.85 million out of the 1/2-cent Public Mass Transportation sales tax to Public Works for non-Vision Zero projects, money that could be going to KCATA-operated public mass transportation services instead!

In 2026, Missouri is set to revise its transportation roadmap for the next quarter century Missouri residents today have even less say in their transportation needs. Last year, Gov. Mike Kehoe slashed the state’s Transit Operating Investment nearly in half, reducing funding to local public transit agencies.

Missouri updates its transit policies every year to make sure it is meeting guidelines for federal and state grant funding. This year, Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe cut state funding for public transit almost in half.

The Chiefs moving to Kansas is such a rotten little move. Worthy of shame and nothing else. But I congratulate the Missouri taxpayers who don't really have to go that much farther for games *and* don't have to subsidize Clark Hunt's lifestyle

When I originally started doing Packers podcasting (shout-out Pack to the Future!), I used to find the cheapest tickets you could get for any game that week.
Pre-Mahomes/Reid, Chiefs tickets were always among the cheapest tickets available every week.

Chiefs announce move from Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri to new $3 billion domed stadium in Kansas The Chiefs have played their home games in the state of Missouri since moving from Dallas after the 1962 season.

in a league with all kinds of soulless husks designed to be entertainment meccas instead of football fields, it's amazing how privileged we are as packer fans. so many teams throwing away any sense of history or pride in playing football the way it's meant to be played for the almighty dollar.

Kansas City is giving transit agency more money, but not enough to stop bus cuts The city is giving the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority an additional $13 million as part of a contract agreed on in August. But the KCATA still plans to cut two bus lines and limit hours on more than a dozen others.

Kansas City will provide more than $13.3 million in additional funding to cover buses and the city’s rideshare service, IRIS. This is the second installment of funding the city and the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority agreed to in a contract they signed in August.

It will also lay off about 171 workers...

We would be in a much worse spot right now if there weren't widespread public support and organizing for keeping our buses fully-funded last spring!

None of this with any prior public knowledge, much less any public feedback.

Inc 2 routes cut completely, and 13 will stop early morning (<6am) and late night (>11pm) service.

KCATA suggested cuts to bus service today after KCMO staff and city council fell $3mil short to pay for our existing service this fiscal year. (All to save IRIS, b/c fuck bus riders, let's give money to private corps)
