An official letter from the Kansas Division of Vehicles dated February 23, 2026, with a redacted recipient address. The letter notifies the recipient that due to the enactment of Senate Bill 244, all Kansas driver's licenses and IDs must reflect the holder's sex at birth. It states that the recipient's current credential will become invalid immediately upon the law's publication on February 26, 2026, with no grace period. The recipient is directed to surrender their current ID to receive a new one matching their sex assigned at birth. The document concludes with instructions on how to appeal the notice if received in error, along with contact information for the department.
Kansas is sending letters to trans people telling them that their licenses will be revoked as of tomorrow and that they risk arrest for driving on a suspended license.
This is pure cruelty.

This article has been retracted at the request of the Authors. The Authors requested the retraction of the paper after detecting a critical error in the preprocessing script. Specifically, when selecting trial types to average reaction times for the calculation of the approach bias the Authors mistakenly treated a filtering variable - containing values of “0” and “1” - as logical, rather than as character-coded values. As a result, instead of averaging across all relevant trials in a condition, the approach bias was calculated based on the first trials only. To assess how severely this error affects the findings, the Authors re-ran all analyses from the published manuscript using the corrected preprocessing routine. Unfortunately, this correction substantially altered the results. The Authors found that the key findings are not robust to the corrected approach - with the only result remaining being that the link between approach bias and intake is moderated by dietary intentions. The Authors would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused.
I salute the honesty and courage of these authors, and I am sure we all share a collective shiver from knowing that we all could easily make (and maybe have made) similar analysis mistakes in our own work
