New work out in @commsbio.nature.com @natureportfolio.nature.com! With Anna Pagotto, we show SARS-CoV-2 Mpro has a secondary preference for R↓ beyond LQ↓. This broader specificity can directly activate the coagulation cascade. #Biochem & #Proteomics all in!

Hello Bluesky! 🌀️

We're on the Molecular Cell cover!

How are ribosome levels adjusted?

Stm1 not only protects ribosomes from degradation, it also promotes their biogenesis in nutrient-rich conditions.

Two roles, one protein - tuned by nutrient availability.

MS Highlight: We developed a novel MS Structural approach to selectively measure conformation-specific crosslinked peptides! 🎯With this targeted method you can quantitively track protein structural changes during phase separation.πŸ’¦ More data coming soon-stay tuned! Loss of D1 during embryogenesis triggers transposon expression in adult ovaries. Top: Ovaries from the indicated genotypes (D1 and aubergine mutants and heterozygotes, F1 and F2) were stained with Vasa (green) and DAPI (magenta). Bottom: RNA in situ hybridization against Copia (green) and total polyadenylated mRNA (blue) was performed in ovaries of the indicated genotypes that were also stained for DAPI (magenta). Yellow and black arrowheads indicate undifferentiated germ cells in the aubergine mutant germarium.
